Today while cleaning up the floor for a carpet install my 27mm dust hose inlet broke off. I was using the cleaning attachment from the SYS 1 cleaning kit (plastic one) and the rubber nozzle on the end of the hose came off in my hand. Looks like the plastic part on the end of the hose holding the rubber adapter fractured. I can duck tape it up and make it work for a while, but my old crappy Rigid has never had an issue with this part.
Now while I was pulling the vac by the hose to get to another part of the floor, I wasn't being the hulk or anything. I've used this thing for cleaning to good effect (projects every 4 months or so) for the past 2 years, bummed that I need a new hose now.
Anyone else notice this weakness, or did I just get a bad one? Does the 3 year warranty apply to the accessories, or just the big tools like the CT-22? Don't know if I still have the receipt to prove date of purchase.

Take a look, if the hose doesn't actually appear to be broken, you may be alright. The ends thread onto the hose counter-clockwise. Sometimes when things happen just right, they can pull off the threads.

Are you sure it's actually broken?
The ends can sometimes work loose and 'unscrew' themselves from the hose - there are a couple of threads on here about how to re-attach them - I'll have a quick search & find you a link...
BTW, even if one of the plastic parts is broken, you can get a spare for virtually no cost & replace it - you won't need a new hose.

I've had the nozzle come off a couple of times now. I'm not really happy about how easy this thing comes off.

Aspiring, I agree with Alex. It's an easy fix but it also seems to happen very easily. It also seems like once it happens, it will happen again. I have had this occur with lesser brands. I would not have expected this from Festool. Not a biggee really. Neill |

Neill, I wouldn't say the end comes off very easily. I've had mine come off twice in three plus years of professional use. I suppose there could be something wrong with your hose if it comes off easily. |

As Bryce, I'm using my ct-minis every day... so far I only had the rubber part coming off ones. Simple fix: Take the rubber piece with the hard plastic , de-attach both from each other (very easy to do by pressing two little snap buttons) then "screw" the hose back on and clip everything back together. I know it sounds confusing, but have a closer look and you will see what I mean. If I don't forget, I will take some pics tomorrow.

I've have encountered this problem with several vac's, though not with my CT ( yet ).
It's annoying, but easily remedied: you can fix the screw-on part to the hose with some hotmelt glue, that should do the trick.

If it comes of regularly you can check if outside of the threaded part, that Matthew is holding in step 3 and 5 in the thread Johny Roundboy posted is still smooth.
In my case some abrasive dust got caught in there and scratched it up, after I smoothed out the scratches with some sandpaper and sprayed some dry silicone spray on it, the hose-end can turn freely again and doesn't come off the hose anymore.

Neill, I wouldn't say the end comes off very easily. I've had mine come off twice in three plus years of professional use. I suppose there could be something wrong with your hose if it comes off easily. Brice, I have three 27mm hoses, two standard length antistatic and one 5m non antistatic. I have just had the problem with one of the antistatic and it does not happen all the time, just once in a while. I have a bit of arthritis in both my thumbs that keeps me from doing some things without a certain level of pain. If not for that, I might be able to screw the hose in tighter. Do you think you could come out to Denver and give me a hand?  As I stated earlier, not really much of an issue. Hope this is the most serious problem I ever encounter. Neill |

Only till the real fix was implemented Duck tape can fix nearly anything...that and a good hammer, but I digress. Smooth sailing now, and I have more respect for how these tools are designed and built. They're fixable, not disposable like lots of stuff out there. |

The tools in my truck were talking the other day. The Dewalts, PC's, Boschs, Makitas were not happy. They also were in the minority. Their complaint: They felt unused and unappreciated since the Festools moved in. I guess the truth hurts.

It has happened to me as well. I actually went through the bother of disassembling the connector to see what was going on in there. Reassembled it and it has not happened again since. This was 6+ months ago, so I don't fully remember _all_ the details, but I think I just screwed the hose to the respective part tightly and then snapped the fitting back together.
