I think I found an easy cheap solution to this issue. Well, one that works for me anyways. It lets you attach a Festool hose (rubber end still on) with a Mirka Ceros sander I went to the HD plumbing section and bought a few items to test as a cuff. Turns out one works just fine. Its called "Tubular Drain Connector" - HD #628488987219. Basically its a piece of PVC with 2 hose clamps on each end. I removed the hose clamps and then forced the PVC rubber onto/over the Mirka port about 1/2" where it fits snugly. You can then take the Festool hose and push it into the other end of the PVC piece and right in so as to mate with the first 1/4" or so of the Mirka port. The other end of the PVC snugs up on the middle section of the Festool rubber end. I have tried it out and it doesn't pop out unless I give it a good yank. You could probably snug it up more with elastic bands, e.g. like the ones you see on Broccoli (you do eat your Broccoli right? ) or something similiar. Cost $5.59 + Tax  Cheers, Greg |

Here are pics. Packaging says "Connects 1-1/2 in. and 1-1/4 in. brass and plastic tubular drain pipes". The PVC is flexible and it wasn't hard to get it to stretch onto the Mirka dust port.   |

Thanks Paul. There has been lots of discussion lately on the Canadian WW forum regarding the issue. It started off as a discussion about what folks had chosen for sanders, Mirka or Festool. It then kinda morphed into how to hook up a Festool hose to the Mirka given that the Mirka has the screw in dust port and nobody who likes the Mirka really wants to purchase and drag around another (expensive) dust hose.
Some Festool users get/use another Festool hose, remove the rubber end and then force the hose to screw into the Mirka. I didn't want to remove the rubber tip so had to find another solution.

Greg, I have a spare D27 that I keep permanently screwed into my Mirka Ceros dust port. It was easy to screw in; no force required. This is a good solution because it keeps the hose as light as possible, leveraging the Ceros light weight. That said... I think the the optimum solution would be to keep a short D27 hose screwed into the Ceros dust port and have a D27 rubber end on the other (like a Dave Ronyak hose adapter). This would allow quick connection to a D27 via an adapter or to a D36 on a boom arm. Maximum flexibility and minimum fuss. Regards, Dan. |

I used the word "force" only because others had said they needed to force it to work. Sorry for any confusion.

Good ideas although the regular Mirka Ceros hose plugs directly into the CT's port. It's a very light & flexible hose that compliments the very light Ceros sander.

One was some 5/16" bolts - I am going to try attaching a Festool 150mm pad to my Mirka so I can use some of my Festool paper on my Mirka, and the other was to snag a tubular drain connector. The part number was different and the price here in NJ was only $3.79 and the appearance matches your pictures exactly. It fits very well. The only thing I did different is to leave the hose clamp on to tighten down a bit more on the Festool hose connection. |

The holes in the addon Ceros pads do NOT line up. I.e. if you have the original pad that came with the Ceros, just slap on your Festool paper. FYI, the Mirka thinking is that they don't want to encourage people to use Festool paper so they made the add-on pads with a different hole pattern. I think it is a stupid decision, but that's Mirka's problem. They make a nice sander, but their marketers are none too bright. Regards, Dan. |

The pad that came with my Ceros matches with the outer 8 holes on my Festool 150mm paper, but not the inner 8 holes because the Ceros pad has a ring of 6 holes there.
It's not a big deal to me at present because I have a lot more Abranet than Festool stuff, but I'm interested to see if it could work. A 5/16" bolt isn't a huge investment.
