The Bundesadler has landed here too, and I am nearly speechless  You have all seen these in pictures and videos, but holding this machine and plunging the first test cuts is truly a Zen experience. If you think you want one now, just wait until you meet the XL700 in person. If you haven't started saving-up for yours, I highly advise getting on it at once I realize we'll be in the "honeymoon" period for a few days, but even so, I cannot think of another tool which has impressed me like this. this machine offers some INCREDIBLE potential, and will dramatically change what we consider "done right" in numerous applications. For the Test Users: I suggest starting out with some smaller cuts, and keep in mind, this machine can plunge 70mm! heed the warnings and read the manual, because a "nice" as this tool is, it has no mercy and no regret for anything stuck in it's path... |

Anyone have an idea of the street price is expected to be? You know, in case I get overcome by tool lust and/or have a gaping sys 5 sized hole to fill in a Sysport...
Or even worse, find an actual project I could use it on!

The tools in my truck were talking the other day. The Dewalts, PC's, Boschs, Makitas were not happy. They also were in the minority. Their complaint: They felt unused and unappreciated since the Festools moved in. I guess the truth hurts.

I bought a PowerMatic PM701 mortiser four months ago and now I'm absolutely kicking myself. I know I'm going to find the money for an XL (probably buried in the couch, har har) and then I'll never touch that PM701 or my biscuit joiner again and I won't have to build that horizontal mortising machine... I know everybody said the 500 was a game changer. The XL is THE game changer!  |

OK...what application in furniture building can it be used for?
My line of thinking is that the Domino is more than capable given the range of sizes/multiple placements.
I can't see a need for anything larger unless I was in the building trades, and even then....where?
