Also a new Syslight worklamp 498 568 @$175.00 Last, but not least the Surfix Finishing Applicator Set 490 063 @$145.00. This is used for applying oil and rubbing out those oil finishes. If (yeah, right!) I buy the XL at the end of the testing period I'm going to drill and tap a couple of holes in the big fence so I can attach supplementary plates. So then I can set the fence to say 20mm offset add an 11mm thick plate and get that 9mm offset to center on 3/4" stock! Done. This, of course, will probably not be condoned by Festool.  Keith |

Keith Keith, Thanks for the e-mail. Your idea looks simple enough to make, the issue that I see is the requirement to drill & tap the XL700 fence -- something that most people (not the least being FestoolUSA  ) won't want to do or have done to their machines. I'll probably wait until I actually have the XL700 to come up with an attachment that won't require a modification to the fence. I've read another comment wishing the XL700 had a little smaller increments for the fence adjustment or at least the ability to more closely center on 3/4" stock. On the other hand, perhaps that is the cross-over point for the DF500. |

I think my second suggestion with the plate attaching to the side lips of the fence as the Festool Trim Stop does is a much more friendly alternative. The fences on both the 500 and 700 have a similar design in that regards. So one accessory could fit both machines.
I agree drilling and tapping the fence would not be the preferred route.
