DSC-AG 125 Plus - first impression: disappointed
« on: January 22, 2018, 06:46 AM »
I recently bought a DSC-AG 125 Plus. I'm building a house and I bought it to cut grooves in the walls and to cut some of the tiles - the larger ones, that don't need to be perfect after cutting. I'm still waiting to use the machine, because there are numerous problems with it from the begining.

First it came with a damaged vibrastop handle. The shop exchanged it fortunatelly, they were quite fast to do it, so I thought the problems were over. After a couple of days I decided to test the machine, but noticed that when I plunge it, it makes a grinding noise. Some metal pieces inside weren't fit to well and it sounded like a piece of garbage from a junk yard. I would even get past that, but the dust extraction attachment just wasn't as precise as I had hoped it would be. It was stopping in weird places during the plunge, it wasn't going back up and so on.

I've decided to send it to festool, for repairs - after a consultation with one of their service men. The machine came back after about a week. And they send it without the vibrastop handle, which I sent with the machine!

I'm really disappointed with Festool. It's my second machine from Festool (I also have a jigsaw), but I'm really afraid to buy more. A new tool, and almost 3 weeks after buying to have it in a working condition?!   [blink]

I've got Fein, Metabo, Bosch and Flex powertools - didn't have any problems with them. The DSC-AG 125 Plus is a huge disappointment so far. I hope I'll work as intended - will check it this weekend (if the handle comes back) and report back after some use. There aren't many opinions about it on the internet.
