I received my centrotec set as soon as they were available, I really like the new set. I had only purchased a few different centrotec bits in anticipation of the centrotec set. I'm glad I waited to purchase more centrotec bits. Heres a video review I did on the centrotec set.
For my needs I decided to add some more accessories to the set, I also stacked my centrotec set on top of a tanos 4- drawer systainer 1. Here are some pics of my setup. Thanks Dave R

Love the random red Mcfeelys Robertson bit in the third photo! Did you grind that to fit the Centrotec?

Nope just a standard Mcfeelys robertson bit, I added it to the pic for fun. I prefer to use the bit holder and a wire detent bit. Not having a centrotec robertson bit doesn't bother me. I might grind one of my kreg jig bits to fit in the centrotec chuck, but I don't mind using one in the standard chuck from the cxs because its so small.

Nice review, I was looking at this set - ddidn't add it up totally but seems much cheaper than buying individual pieces, assuming you need most of them, plus you get the Systainer.
Does the manual driver handle have a ratchet? I was wondering if they're available separately as I've never seen one before

Good review... your enthusiasm is palpable. I just dont see spending $400+ for this set and still have to add to it.

Cris, the manual driver handle does nit have a ratchet. That would be absolutely killer if it did though. Most of the pieces in the set will be available to purchase separately in the future, this is what I was told. The driver handle being one of them.

Thanks Dave. I'm Probably going to get this. Too bad I already bought the extension holder and the BH 65. Yes, I'd love to see a ratchet on that hand driver Cris, the manual driver handle does nit have a ratchet. That would be absolutely killer if it did though. Pulled the trigger on this today at Lee Valley - I know it's been talked about ad nauseum but I really can't figure out the Canada - U.S. price difference: Apple Ipad 2 - U.S. $499 - Canada $519 = 4% higher Festool kit - U.S. $425 - Canada - $490.87 = 15% higher Even the weird $490.87 instead of $490, etc. looks weird. Anyway, I know this is probably a lost cause. Having said that, I'm pretty pleased with the set, exactly as Dave described. You actually get 2 centrotec chucks as one is part of the hand driver. I think the adapter for using the Centrotec chuck with a regular drill is a great idea for Festool - they will sell more bits if people buy into the Centrotec system. I can easily see them creating new mini sets targeted at the non Festool drill market, i.e. the adapter, chuck and some bits. It also means that if you only have one Festool drill, your old drill can be used as a backup with its own Centrotec chuck. Now if only Festool made an adpter that would allow the use of regular quickload ball detent bits with the Centrotec chuck - been asked before I know. The hand driver is very ergonomic, nice grip, just needs that ratchet Like Dave, I added a few spiral bits because there are some things like drywall, etc. that I just don't want to use those beautiful brad points on. Also of course, some good old Robertson bits for the holder, Although now that torx are becoming more widely available I'm starting to use them more. But as a loyal Canadian, still like Roberstons and they are the most available for deck screws, etc. All in all, even though there may be one or two things I won't use much, I really like the set. I probably would have ended up buying almost all the items over time anyway and I can be fairly confident with just a few small additions I'll never get into a situation where I don't have the right bit for the job. At times, I'll probably even just grab the set with the manual driver - no drill - around the house even though of course I have lots of other screw drivers. Chris

One last comment on this, I stupidly did not secure the T Lock properly and was carring the set Systainer attached under my C15 Systainer. As I took it out out of my vehicle the set Systainer opened and pretty much all the contents hit the driveway (in the dark). Even though the set Systainer stayed attached to the C 15 Systainer. it just opened up. After grabbing a flashlight I was able to round up all the contents. not fun chasing down all those bits, though.

Trying to find bits in the grass at night aint no fun!

And it started to rain tonight as well. When I got in the house and put it all back together, I realized the small counter sink was missing - back out in the dark with the flashlight and finally found it. Next time I'll be more careful with the T Lock!

And you don't want them to get near a drop of rain. Centrotec bits rust like crazy! Crazy, I tell ya!

I'm glad you got the centrotec set and are enjoying it. Mine stays attached the T-18 so I have everything I need for drilling. Now I feel the urge to buy the Zobo bits after seeing how smooth they drill... Christmas is coming soon.

Is it possible to get just the systainer centrotec inserts? I went to my local woodcraft and looked at the kit, there was to much redundantcy of bits. I've made my own kit using a spare sys 1. Most of what I use on a daily basis is in there but the organization and ease of use is lacking. Thanks Curt

Yes it is possible. This question was previously answered somewhere on the FOG but I cannot remember the parts' numbers- 74*** or something like that.
Perhaps someone else can chime in?
