HK 55 and HKC 55 Video Demonstration
« on: December 31, 2015, 01:22 AM »
Hi Everyone

Festool UK very kindly lent me an HK 55 and an HKC 55 together with a pair of FSK rails in order for me to make a video. This follows on from the video I made (starring Phil Beckley) of the HK 85.

I have paid particular attention to the cordless HKC 55 and include several quite long sequences of a lot of cutting - all done with one battery charged at the very start. I cut 4 x 2 at 45 degrees and even some 30 mm thick oak. It was all very easy. The HKC 55 was a demonstration machine and I had no way of telling how much abuse it might have suffered - I certainly had to clean it up on arrival before it could be filmed !

Thank you Peter, another excellent demonstration.

Can see the convenience of the HKC if I was working on a roof, but am still waiting for the HK to be released in Aus before I decide.
If you don't like Signatures, just go to Look and Layout and tick No Signatures.

Very nice video Peter showing the HKC. I've had one since release in the UK and it's a brilliant saw. I've used mine for roofing cutting birds mouth, batten, soffitt, and sheathing with great success. Used indoors with the 620 rail for chipboard flooring, the short rail for stud work and any other dimension work like joists where the freedom from an extractor makes it ideal. It's only limit is depth of cut on compound mitres where you have to finish with a hand saw. It also cuts a very good scarf joint.  Built a 12x12 shed from stick at the bottom of a very long garden and having all the materials dropped over the fence built the entire thing there with no extension cables or carrying of materials.
I have never managed to flatten a battery before the next one is charged and I bought the bare unit so am cycling batteries all the time for drills. For first fix carpentry work on site it's a cracking tool and that's its role in the Festool line up. I still need the ts55 for finer work.
Kind regards
Jools

Hi Jools

That description of your usage of the HKC 55 is brilliant and takes the information beyond the controlled environment of a cosy workshop into the real world of carpentry.

Happy New Year to you and everyone else on the FOG.
