So, I couldda made the C-12 review terribly long with a discussion and demo of the chucks. Instead, I pulled it out separately since, really, these chucks are used across all the drills (if you'd like to see them used with a T-15, be sure to PM me for my shipping address... ) The much ballyhooed DD-DS (clearly, that's a depth-stop chuck) is half the video including some blue-tape antics. The C-12 review describes how the chuck works internally (I took it to the TSA for a peek), but this one shows it off.

hey paul, great that you made this video, since there cleary is not enough info on the dd-ds out there. i always wondered how they justify the high price of it, while there are bitholders that cost like 10$ that do a similar job. anyway, great job on doing all those really informative and yet entertaining (i guess that goes for tool addicts like me) reviews! i still have one question though: do normal hex 1/4" driver bits fit into the motor shaft of the drill? oh, and would you mind telling me what kind of drill press (make, type) you are using to "centrotec" your standard bits?
thanks again for making all the great videos!

Ah ha! You're one of the ones who is subscribed to my YouTube channel.. I wondered how that video got viewed so often before I posted it! Thanks for the compliments, Mosez. Non-Festool driver bits generally don't fit the motor shaft. At least for me, all but one set won't fit; the set that does fit is kinda unusual in that the corners of the hex shaft are visibly rounded, much like my Centrotecing trick accomplished. My drill press is a Powermatic 18" VS drill press. I got it recently during the Powermatic 3,000 hour sale and love it. I previously had a bench drill press and would often exceed its capacities. It also had something against being square no matter how often I aligned it. The PM18VS rocks. Literally... I really need to fix that part of my garage floor!

Correction, all 1/4'' hex bits fit the motorshaft itself. It is when the centrotec chuck is connected that those bit don't fit because the centrotec chuck needs the corners of the bits to be rounded off.

Thanks for the compliments, Bert your wife know you got all this festool gear? No wife... but if lil Miss Megan would want to give it a go... Alex: I didn't know hex drivers were supposed to fit in the drive shaft. I have 2 sets of driver bits from different vendors, one fits, one doesn't but the one that fits definitely has rounded sides... so I assumed Thanks for the clarification.
