I bought one of these a few months back from ace tool and just recently noticed on eBay the same set. The one on eBay has bits in the back right two containers whereas mine was/ empty.
Did these sets come with differ options, some complete and some with partial bits? My model number is the same one on eBay. Just wondering if I got took.

Seth posted the link you need to check the contents. My guess is that the picture on ebay was one taken by the seller and he had some of the items moved around. A couple of things about your thread, first Shane has asked numerous times for members to use a descriptive title. You wanted to know the contents of the installers set, that should have been included in the title. Furthermore, if you would have done a search for contents of the installer set you would have found a recent thread that answered this question for you. I don't mean to bust your chops here, well, maybe a little.

Thanks Seth. I could have done a little more research, but I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. That answers my question. T

Hi everyone, I am brand new to the forum and Festool. I just have a question that maybe someone could answer. I am a just a weekend woodworker and I just purchased a CXS set and I am thrilled with the product, the workmanship is great and the batteries last forever. I went to purchase the 98 piece Centrotec installers set 498 796 and it is now no longer available. This is discouraging that this set is not available even as a special order item. I really enjoy the brand, but now the ability to leverage the Centrotec features with this product are now limited. Purchasing all the items separately or as knockoffs and machining them to fit is not feasible. I am hesitant to purchase further products if this happens frequently. Usually the item is noted as a limited edition which is fine as I can plan accordingly. I don't mean to knock the brand, but since I am new to this line I am not familiar with the history. So my question is, do you know if this item will be offerred again or as a special order? Does this happen often? Do you know if Festool will offer a converter chuck that will fit the drill and the more commonly available bits etc? Once again I am really enjoying the products, but I am unsure what items are temporary or will soon be unavailable. CSX, Kapex KS 120, CT 36E, A few Systainers.

First, to the FOG! The bit sets have been available as limited time and limited quantity items. Whether of not that tradition continues is totally up to Festool and they have repeatedly posted here that they will not reveal their marketing or pricing direction. As the popularity increases I would guess that the chances of enhanced product offerings here will similarly increase. Just hang around here and you will find out about what is coming when! Peter

The tools in my truck were talking the other day. The Dewalts, PC's, Boschs, Makitas were not happy. They also were in the minority. Their complaint: They felt unused and unappreciated since the Festools moved in. I guess the truth hurts.

Peter, Thanks for the warm welcome! It's great to be a member. Thanks for the info. I will try to navigate the forums to understand which items are short lived. I have my eye on an RO 90 DX sander once I save up enough dough. I guess I am discouraged that I missed the Installers kit and Zobo bits Thanks again

If you are interested in those, start a new thread (make the title descriptive) and ask about the availability. There is a chance that on of our on line dealers might have one, or one of our members might know of someone who does.
Don't give up.

Does a Centrotec shank limit you to only festool? Can you not chuck a Centrotec zobo into a drill press just as effectively?

It is just a 1/4" hex shaft with a specially located groove and abbreviated corners. It will chuck in a normal, 3-jaw chuck.

Yes, my statement that it "limits you to a Festool Drill" is not quite true. It wouldn't be your first choice for a regular chuck but could be used.
I should have said that the Festool Zobo set being discontinued, or not currently available, is not a huge problem. You do have the ability to use a regular chuck.
