Got a new Syslite yesterday. I needed to use it right away so I just plugged it in and turned it on so I was charging it and using it off AC. When I picked it up after it had  been on for a couple of hours the case was quite hot to touch. Normal?

Charging and running will have a warming effect for sure ... not certain what you consider "hot". Too hot to touch ?

It gets slightly warm when you load it like any battery, but i wouldn't call it hot in normal conditions. I used it a few times with the power cord connected, but can't say i noticed any heat.

While not too hot to touch I thought it was more than just "warm" after 2 hours plugged while simultaneously charging and running. I'll give it another test.

The motor needs a break in period at which time it will run hot... oh wait, nm  Tongue Out

Mine is still on the way but one of the main reasons I want it is that it isn't a major heat source in an un air conditioned room.  I imagine electronics running a bit hot doesn't contribute much to the over all temp in a room like a lit halogen light does.

The only time mine feels hot is when I leave it sitting too close to the BBQ for too long. Every time this happens I'm impressed none of the plastic has melted.
As far as charging or using with a battery it has never felt hot.

Oh there's no way it gets that hot, warm, whatever. It's just warmer than I would have expected, I bought it for the same reason, also kept burning my fingers on the stupid halogen.

I got a chance to use my syslite for the first time on Saturday. After 8 hr of use while plugged into the wall, my syslite was definitely warm to the touch. But not close to being uncomfortable.   I assumed this is due to the internal battery charging along with the light output. I have yet to use it with battery power only to see if that makes it run any cooler.

on the same topic, anybody know what the part number for the US wall charger is? I'm seeing 498 857 or 702 250. I have the euro syslite... will be nice to stop charging it in the car!

I haven't got it in front of me, but I thought the Syslte charger was multi voltage friendly ... just needing a plug adaptor.

Check the little label for the voltage range.

The voltage range is 100-240. Like Kev says. I think you just need the plug adapter. the numbers on the plug adapter are 15.2078 and 15.2894 if that's any help. the number on the charger is FW7556/12 Output is 12v 1.5A

I have only used mine with the on-board battery and have not felt any heat.  I use it to highlight cutting lines on my bandsaw, drill press and when cutting dovetails.  So far, I love this handy little light.

Is it also 50/60Hz friendly?

thanks for the replies. At any rate I would like to order a spare wall charger, the EKAT is simply unclear as it shows two parts. I will take it up with the dealer.
