I could probably do something with an incandescent bulb fixture, but I'm hoping for something a bit more elegant.

Yeah, I'm a little more "elegant" than that.  [big grin]

This one is so far "outside the box" that I'm surprised I even took the wild guess to get past proof-of-concept. But it took me 20 hours to stop giggling like a schoolgirl after I discovered it.  [tongue]

Is there anybody that know if this is Bluetooh 4.x (BLE) ? Are they actually paired?

For those thinking of the MIDI/MINI...

A plug that that goes in the socket (with a BLE transceiver), could trigger a load that triggers the auto start. I'm only not sure how much load the vac needs to start. The standard remote could then be used (if you can mimic the signal).

Nice work, did you take pictures of what the front panel looks like from the bottom after you mounted the bluetooth modul?
Took apart my ctm 36 hd's front panel, as it has all 4 switches it has little room for it unfortunatly, but i was surprised to see that the whole pcb is potted in epoxy, so no dust or water can damage it, let alone static electricity from anything.
