Have you ever thought about visiting the US?  I am planning a get together of Festool users, members here, and those interested in Festool.  Based on the fact that you were physically able to post, I could see you sharing tips for lots of others!

I also brought another c15 and Installers kit for the business partner not to mention all the Mfs Routing templates and jigs
My addiction has only been slowed by the closure of my festool (drug) dealer so I have to buy blind of the Internet (Toolfest etc) imagine what would happen if I could actually get to try all pieces of festool kit !!!!!!!!'!!!
Ps I live in Southampton, Hampshire if a new 'drug' dealer wants to set up in my area feel free
............give me a pen or even a tshirt and I'll stay loyal forever

Hi Paddy

It is always sad when one's local guy closes down and it gets difficult to touch and feel the kit. I have used Toolfest quite a bit and have had no problems at all. I even dropped in there on my way through Woking and they are a really friendly bunch. On one occasion I was desperate for a particular item and phoned Warren who had it at my workshop the following day - and at no extra charge.

Buying from any authorised Festool dealer means that you will have the full support of Festool even if you have bought via the internet.

Can I even try to explain how dangerous it is living where I live?

I have a great Festool deal with a huge range just 5 minutes from my house. Several others 30 and 50 minutes away ...

I have to drive within 1 minute of my local most days.

Dear Kev

I am miles from my nearest Festool stockist and so almost everything has to be done over the internet. I know that this would increase my cost of living but I would love to have a Festool dealer at the end of my road. My dream dealer would also sell coffee (so that I can take my time making up my mind) and maybe they should sell dresses or jewellery so my wife can feel at home there.

Eureka!!!!!

Festool need to start a new fashion line for ladies that includes handbags and jewellery. Then, if you buy a Domino you get  a 50% discount on a dress for your wife. Buy a Kapex and a handbag gets thrown in free...Ah, we do need to cater for the ladies doing carpentry and so something for the husband will be required - I know - more tools, his and her Rotex. I think I need a rest.

Oh Peter, you've got it bad  Sad

Not wishing to rub salt ... My nearest Festool dealer has a little cafe 50m away ... I often start my Saturday with an egg and bacon sandwich - then, coffee in hand, down to the toys. Immediately round the corner is a selection of shops that interest my wife - but normally she would go 3 minutes further on to the shopping mall nearby.

Even if you knew Sydney, the northern beaches peninsula where I live is quite unusual and coincidentally kind to home woodworkers (with the exception of the average size of a house block - because I'm near the surf beaches, 700sqm is a large block). Within a 10 minute driving radius are multiple specialist timber, general and specialized hardware, building materials, electrical specialists, etc - disproportionate to the rest of Sydney. There's even a discount tool warehouse that I purchased a cordless Dremel the other day for less than US eBay prices!

But it's not all roses, Sydney is now officially more expensive to live in than New York - which means I'm working silly hours and probably spend more time buying tools than I get to spend using them.

At least my home is a real "fixer upper" so there's lots of therapy waiting and ready!

All the best,
Kev

Hah - my local is open late enough that Fridays on the way home from the office typically suffer a minor diversion ... Today resulted in a DTS400 concealed in the boot and a Domino XL on order. I'm way beyond voices in my head ... Something alien takes complete control of my body - I feel like I'm watching a documentary through the eyes of a crazy person with a Festool fetish!
(but I'll still sneak back there the next morning, also doing the rounds of shops that don't even sell Festool - like last week, which resulted in yet another surf board).

You say about festool making women's clothes to appease the non believers ( sorry I ment wives) whilst we're buying new toys (sorry ment tools)
I've noticed that festool do make the non believers some tshirts but when I asked the wife if she wanted one she threatened me with violence  Scared
This week I've been working near my nearest festool dealer in Winchester, after I explained that I don't get to play with any bits of kit he promptly told me that festool are coming for demos  at the end of the month  Scared
How will I explain another systainer or maybe a £500 table with holes in it
Maybe I should offer her some new shoes.............

It's funny this subject of product for both spouses in the same place has come up.  Several years ago my wife and I opened a high end kitchen toy store that unfortunately did not do well.  I told my wife we should have a tool store next door so the wife could to the kitchen store and husband could to the tool store and they both could spend money without getting ticked at each other and business may have flourished but we never did it.

Paddy,

There are some great handbag shops in Winchester, and shoe shops, and dress shops and....

and some great places to have coffee near the cathedral.

Don

What a brilliant idea - I suppose it is too late to give it a try - it could just work you know.

What is funny about my problem is that I get equally excited when I see someone else buying new Festools -- I was at my local dealer just yesterday and was excited for the customer buying a TS75 and CT combo!
