Domino DF500 Connectors

I don't think I've seen anything posted on the new connectors yet. What are your opinions? I am excited to see that I can utilize my DF500 in another way, albeit an expensive option for what it is. But it IS Festool and there are definitely less expensive options to do the same thing.

I dont build much knock down stuff bu I will have this set when it comes out in april. I want this for my workbenches and miscellaneous stuff that I want to be able to move or reconfigure if I happen to need it in my shop. To me, it just makes the domino a more valuable tool.

No plans to do any knock-down stuff, but "never say never" is an insurance policy for me. Anyone knows about its Canadian retail price?

I saw them demoed yesterday.  I was very surprised by how relatively simple they appeared to be to route, drill, and install.  I am not a hot and heavy domino user but I could see having the set for occasional use and even designing some furniture and other woodworking items incorporating the knockdown capabilities.

For instance I could see building a fireplace mantle in assemblies and then having the assemblies connected on site using the connectors.  Would allow for greater efficiencies in some areas and would make moving a large mass of wood easier.

Now if I was doing a lot of knockdown fasteners then I would be looking at the other methods with their jigs and factor in all the costs and where the break even point was going to fall.

I actually think these are a big deal and have been waiting for them for quite some time. I use the DF 500 a lot. Most knockdown hardware is less than ideal. I've never been comfortable using them simply because of future failure. These should be a good solution to that problem though. Nowadays for good or bad people are accustomed to ordering online and for custom furniture this can be a problem when it comes to shipping costs. I for one will design a couple new pieces with these, specifically for shipping as flat packs.

Now let's hope someone comes out with true hollowcore sheet goods, finally ditching what we all hate about lifting plywood which is the extraordinary weight.

Yea definitely cool and I love that the option is now there, but I doubt Ill ever use them as they are pricey and I have no intentions of ever building any knock down furniture.

Uhhhhggghhh

Just when my wallet was getting a break. They come up with this. Ill prolly get a set. Though I dont do a lot of Knock down, I have a son in the Marines and a daughter going in the coast guard. So good solid knock down furniture will be great for them.

I also think this might be great for assembling and disassemble things like cutting tables for those who have limited room.

There are a lot of creative folks who post here. Im sure Ill be getting plenty of ideas of what and how to use them.
