DWC 18-2500 Availability in US?
« on: December 18, 2016, 10:27 AM »
I have been scouring multiple US sites for the availability of the DWC 18-2500 to no avail. The festool website has it listed but not available to purchase it seems. Is it NAINA?

I assume the 2500 is the better fit over the 4500 due to the need of screwing down sub floors on occasion. Let me know if my assumption is correct.

Thanks!

The DWC 18-2500 is not sold in the US.  I couldn't find on the Festool USA site, so I assume you saw it on an international site.  You are correct that the 2500 is made for wood to wood fastening like sub floors.

Thanks for the info. Really is a shame it's not available. Going to try my luck with the 4500. I'll be using it mainly for drywall and see how it fairs with the sub floor.

Didn't have to settle with the 4500. I ended up purchasing the 2500 from a dealer out of the U.K.  Should have it in a few days.

DWC 18-2500 Availability in US?

Just took delivery on the DWC 18-2500 basic this afternoon.  Ordered it Sunday from the UK and it's here just a few days later. I fired off a bunch of course thread screws with ease into solid wood. Gonna put it threw its paces over the next week or so.

Overall:
Very light
Compact
Silent (compared to other screw guns)
Effortless

Ps- in the photos I posted, the screws are supposed to feed through the rounded feed.

Awesome tool! any update on how easily it works on subfloors/wood to wood screwing? Imthinking of purchasing, any problems with using batteries in that tool? I might use for decking as well, think there would be any issues?
Thanks a lot!

This may be blasphemy, but as much as I really like my Festool tools, I have used a Simpson-StrongTie Quik Drive for over 10 years. Corded tool has a stand-up extension for doing decks - saved my back over the years. The only repair that I have done was to replace a bit. The motor is Makita and has held up well.

Ive been using mine for particle board flooring now last couple of days and it's really easy to use despite the boards are really hard materials.

I went for the 2500 b/c its more all round  then the 4500.

Can I ask where you purchased yours, I want to order mine asap. I also like the more versatile 2500 as apposed to the 4500, longer screws, more options, etc. They look identicle though, I wonder if the difference is in the Drive or the electronics?
Thanks

Festool is very frustrating for me in this way.  We need the HK 85 also.  Yesterday.
