ETS EC 125 sanding disk assortment pack?
« on: January 05, 2019, 10:01 PM »
I’ve got an ETS EC 125 sander and I love it. I’m a hobbiest who doesn’t get to spend as much time in the shop as I used to (having two kids will do that to you). I want to buy an “assortment pack” of sandpaper in various grits (maybe 80, 120, 220) as it will take quite some time to go through 50 count of each grit. It didn’t look like Festool offered anything like that at the moment, so my question is: do you have a brand of sandpaper that sells in assortment packs, fits the Festool hole pattern, and you are reasonably happy with the quality?

Festool sells 10 packs of the 5” discs but many Festool retailers don’t stock them. Try the Tool Nut. They sell them. The only issue is that you need a $99 order in order to get free shipping.

They only have 10 packs for select grits.  Many you have to buy the full 100pack.  Thing is the cost per sheet goes way down when you buy the 100pack, so you end up on the path that it's hard to justify buying the 10s.

This is a question that comes up quite often and I wish Festool offered all grits for all the papers. Having said that, the cost per sheet for 10 is high compared to the 50 or 100 packs, but for many who simply are not going to ever blow through a 50/100 pack, the higher per sheet price may be a more reasonable decision.

We do sell most grits in 10 packs. Here;s what we have in the Granat papers.

I am a hobbyist too, and yes, a 50 sheet box could almost be a lifetime supply in some grits. I buy 10 sheet packs in grits I don't use much, but take the "cry once" approach on grits I will use frequently like 150, 180 and 220. The nice thing is that the Festool paper is quite good, and buying the 50 or 100 sheet box will get you a good price per sheet. Once the money is long-ago spent, you don't need to be shy about replacing a sheet when it's not cutting well.

Fortunately, sandpaper has a long shelf life, I have a fair amount of sticky-back Porter Cable sandpaper that was probably purchased 8 or 10 years ago. I use it quite a lot when hand sanding, but my use is modest compared to the "normal" market for that stuff, a roll lasts a good long while.

I've ordered 2 different Granat assortments from FestoolNirvana: https://www.festoolnirvana.com/collections/sander-accessories-abrasives-assortments.  1 for my DTS400 and the other for my 150mm sanders.
