I am searching for a longer hose for my CT-36, currently I am just using the stock 27mm/3.5M hose with all my tools, including the TS-55/Domino/OF 1400/ETS 125 and RO-90.

I work only at home, in my shop and I use (and absolutely love) the Ultimate Dust Deputy. My shop is small, the CT-36 is stationary next to the double doors and I end up working outside often so I need a longer hose to reach stuff without needing to move the extractor.

I am considering going with the 36mm/7M hose and I would prefer to sleeve the hose, my current 27mm hose is covered halfway with gorilla sleeve and the cord is run inside it, I find this works great.

So, my questions boil down to:

  • Any reason NOT to go with the 7M length? The CT 36 seems to have plenty of suction.
  • Any suggestions on non-Festool options? I already have a long Mr. Nozzle hose that I might be able to re-purpose, I have not really looked into adapters, etc.
  • Any way to get a cord longer than 13'? I would really like to have a couple of 25' Plug-it cords but I can't locate any on the Festool USA site.
  • Pro's/Con's on using a larger hose then reducing it with a few feet of 27mm to maintain flexibility?.

Would appreciate any suggestions or feedback.

The sanders will only accept 27mm.

The planers will only accept 36mm.

Most of the other tools will accept either one, and many will collect dust more efficiently if you use the 36mm.

If the sanders are a factor with this, you might want to stick with a 27mm hose.


The problem you are most likely to run into with the non-Festool hoses is that they are unlikely to be anti-static in a way that is compatible with Festool's anti-static tools/extractors.  This feature of the (more expensive) versions of Festool's hoses can help to reduce shock hazards to the operator while using the tools in some environments.  With most non-Festool tools, you probably won't get that protection anyway, so no big deal in that situation...

The TS55 and TS75, the planers, the OF1400 and OF2200 and the cleaning tools all accept and work best with 36mm hose. I have often used the 36mm x 7m AS hose with all of those.

The Domino, OF1010, MFK700, the jigsaws and all the sanders only can accept the 27mm hose. I have never had a problem with any of those using the 27mm x 5m AS hose.

With the Festool boom arm, which includes a short piece of 50mm AS hose and a coupling, I prefer the 27mm x 3.5m AS hose and the 36mm x 3.5m AS hose.

You won't have any problem with the suction power at 7m.  The router definitely benefits from the D36 hose, but you will need the D27 for the sanders and Domino. The TS55 can go either way.  Unless you get long D27 and D36 hoses you will have to go with the D27 to run everything. The D27 still works OK for the router but the D36 is noticeably better.

Though the connection may be a bit clunky you could just put an extension cord of proper gauge on the plug-it.

Don't forget to up size the Gorilla sleeve if you get the D36.

Thanks for the input guys. I will grab the 36mm/7M and give it a try.

RE: the cord, as far as I can tell from the festoolusa and ekat sites the plug-it cord ends are NAINA, is this correct?
