Festool USA is a fast growing and large market for Festool. They feel they are not even close, nowhere near close, to attaining the market share potential here. I would not be surpised if somewhere down the road, the tools for Festool USA will be manufactured here.

I sure wish they felt that way about Canada.  You people in the USA don't know know just how good you have it when purchasing Festool products. As far as I can tell, the Festool USA prices are by far the lowest in the world. Welcome back, Frank. Where ya been? You know, if you need to beat those high Canadian prices there are ways.   |

IMO Festool is years.........if ever......from tooling up in the US. IMO they would probably first opt to build MFG'ing facilities like in Czech Republic or something, doubt that one too. Building High End products is about quality control, Discerning Euro MFG's will not leave the fate of their company's bread and butter products to someone else.
Vteknical, True, that quality control is a must, especially for a company like Festool. It takes a long time to earn a good reputation for quality, and a much shorter time to damage or lose it. But BMW, Toyota, Honda and others have long proven that quality control can be implemented in a plant outside of their mother country. BMW's South Carolina USA facility has won top quality ratings several times, and they have worked to establish other suppliers of components and subassemblies used in the vehicles built there. Anyone in the world who bought Z3, Z4 or X5 bought a vehicle made in USA. The key is management and training of the workforce. I will admit that the mindset of the people and the culture do have a significant influence on the attitude and expectations of that workforce going into setting up any such foreign manufacturing operations. It's very unlikely that any commercial aircraft you have flown on was made entirely by one company using components made in one country. Quality is obviously critical for aircraft safety of flight. I'm not complaining about the price increases since Festool has effectively dropped 15% for Canadians in the last year. We just need to buy before the upcoming increases and we'll be ahead of the game.

Wow. 15% reductions are nice! Are you folks in Canada still restricted to the one dealer or has that changed? Since I live 100 yards from the border I have no restrictions. I checked a couple of years ago and the Canadian prices for Festool were significantly higher so I just buy from US retailers. Greg |

No one's thrilled to be paying more, but these price changes seem reasonable.
Festool could announce, say, an across-the-board 15% increase, but instead there's a variation from item to item. This suggests careful and detailed thinking about the pricing....

It seems that like their tools, the Festool "bean counters" are very precise.  It looks like it's time to buy that CT 22 I've been wanting along with another sander before the price goes up. Now how do I break the news to SWMBO?   |
