The Festool  8 mm router bits (made by Lietz, IIRC) are superb bits, the carbide is high quality and the selection is huge.
I have a bunch and will probably get a bunch more before they vaminos  muchachos.
I wish it weren't so, but it is so and am hoping that Festool will revisit the router bits again. They were never properly promoted and featured and am betting the router promotion programs were passed around to whomever was unlucky enough to get that project "placed in their hands." Probably held up and handled like a dirty sweat sock, "puleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze, give that job to someone else!"
I could be exaggerating a tad, but it simply wasn't promoted. Anyhow, they are great bits at a good price.

Bob, I agree with you. Even the description in the catalog was hard to figure out. On a seperate subject do you have a list of router bits that you have that are to be discontinued (and available at the 25 % discount). i would be interested in picking up some. You can pm me or post here.
Thanks
Vijay

It is a shame that Festool is dropping these bits. I have both Festool, Whiteside and Lee Valley. I have also had some custom Whiteside bits made, one of which I can cut a 7/8 " rabbit into solid surface countertop material 3/16" deep in one pass with no chattering, no vibration. I am using the OF 2200 which also runs very smooth. If enough people call Whiteside and ask them to start producing 8 mm bits then maybe they'll will do it. For any manufacture its all about quantity. Of course if Festool wants to keep selling router bits it may behoove them to reintroduce the 8 mm bits. When customers start looking elseware for consumables they may throw all of the router bit business to the new guy.
