The working temp for the adhesive is down to at least 40 below F.
How 'bout the other end of the scale, like 122 F ambiant, freaking 10,000 F in the sun?

I'm back. Yesterday I finished negotiating with the printer. I needed a couple of answers before I felt comfortable.
The answer to the question of labels versus printing is : BOTH!
I felt that it was important to offer those who wanted the printed version the promised printed version even though I believe the labels are superior in every way. Those who want labels will get labels instead. The labels will not have the green border that was pictured earlier in this thread so that the two different versions will look more similar.
The labels are more expensive to produce than the printing. However, by eliminating the border and begging, and offering to install the labels myself on any desired past the 70+ at their facility, the cost will be the same for either model. I should now in the next day or so when the first batch is to be ready. I plan to ship labelled ones first - it will be far more efficient for me.
So, the botched batch will definitely have labels and will ship first - so if you want yours first...
Those who have already purchased should expect an email from me asking for your preference.
Thanks for your patience.
Peter

Paul, That is an idea, but I want to have the labels and the box at similar temps, wipe with alcohol first, etc. This has taken longer than I anticipated and I don't want to hear later that there was a problem with the labels falling off due to something beyond my control. That is the very least that I can do in return for the support and patience exhibited here. Peter

For those who got emails, I had saved that as a draft. That will tell you how long I had to wait for an answer to the cost implications. I missed changing that when I sent it out a little while ago.

Peter: You have got to be kidding me! Though not part of the Fogtainer order, I have been watching from the sidelines as you have exhibited tremendous patience and perseverance when mere mortals would have folded their tents. Anyone that has not been patient with all you have done has no idea how much fun it is to organize something like this and then have it (semi) blow up in your face. On the other hand, I really don't recall anyone giving you a public lashing, which happily speaks to the civility of the Festool community. Does the phrase "No good deed goes unpunished" ring a bell? Thanks for all that you do for FOG. Jim Ray (Waiting for the second Fogtainer order announcement to be posted any day now!)

Mr. Ray,
The support from this forum with this project has been beyond belief. As I sit here typing I consider myself so darn lucky to be involved with the guys and gals here - spammers excluded!
If you are the Mr. Ray that I think you are - we spoke on the phone about a decade ago when I searched down your home phone number to let you know that your 800 number was down and buyers couldn't place orders - at about nine at night.
A compliment from you is beyond belief. I fully understand why a mutual friend constantly mentions you in high regard.

A few things popped into my head last night. Don't ask why, the brain works in weird ways. To Shane: When the Fogtainers arrive are you going to take one Sys out of the Sys wall and replace it with a Fogtainer? To Peter or someone else: How about a Festool calendar? Timing might work out perfect for 2012 - The cover page or one month could be a pic of the Sys wall in Lebanon - The back cover or another month could be a side by side metric / inch conversion table - The other 10 months could be pics of Festools doing unique or bizarre things. Such as an MFT3 with all the coolest attachments, a TS set-up on that monster rail down in Lebanon, a T15 driving the biggest Spax around into a 6x6, a Domino next to a piece of walnut that has Domino's inserted to spell out FOG, a whacked out Kapex set-up, a guys custom Systainer truck storage system, etc. - We could have a contest. People would upload photo's of their Festool doing things mentioned and we could have a vote for which pics to put in the calendar. - Festool USA or proceeds from calendar sales could sponsor prizes for those who's pics are put into the calendar. Doesn't have to be anything fancy or expensive. A shirt, hat, tape measure, something like that. It would only be 10 or 11 items so the cost should not be a hardship. - Timing could work out really well to have these ready to go for Xmas 2011. Great gift idea and a fun project for the year. Another thought for a project: Growing up lumber yards always gave out nail pouches / aprons. You probably know the kind, cotton canvas, two large pouches in the front and a small slit pouch in the middle for a pencil, ties around your waist. Working jobsites one side would be filled with 16p nails, the other with 8's or 10's. I bought one a few years ago at a big box. The thing sucked. Material was too thin. Nails and especially screws would poke through the material and nick my hands. I really miss having a good nail pouch. Festool blue color, the front could say something like FOG Work smarter, Work safer Just some ideas

Markus, I think that the calendar is a cool idea. I have just started playing with new publishing software and have been helping my wife with her books and book covers. She recently published a magazine that was a print on demand. She had already mentioned calendars as a possibility thru them. The author determines the price and any proceeds beyond the printing costs are automatically deposited into the authors account. I was looking into the possibility of a FOG work apron as had been suggested in another thread here a while back. Located custom sewers in the US is difficult. I found a maker of work aprons who does custom work, but at 2000 aprons minimum that possibility went away for now. Keep ideas coming! Peter

i like the idea of a fog calender aswell and would buy one . giving the members here the chance to choose the pics would be a nice side event. To keep the numbers down (on getting them printed etc) on other fog gear you could use some of those labels on some things

Peter: There's a company called VistaPrint at vistaprint.com that does custom printing and offers printed or embroidered hats at reasonable prices. Have you contacted anyone like Embroidery Authority? Their prices seem reasonable on the items they offer. I don't know what it would be like to ask them to do an apron? Tom

Tom The website is rubbish on Vistaprint! I got my business card from der and my girlfriends got some cards from that site! Its not cheap at all. Its normal priced. Its all extras and the prices change by the minute. Really strange. You can go on and it will say you havd 60% discount you then come on later it will only offer you 30% it has all these special offers but when you get to paying section it changes or you have some other kind of discount but you lost your discount on something else. It crap really. Der was a speciall offer going where you get a free calendar with some cards. You can save your project on the website and come back later to alter or add something before you pay and when come to pay it was charging £3 for the calendar with 60% off I was like thats not FREE! Then come back on and its free but its added the £3 on the cards as it was the same price. Any way it takes about 2/3 weeks for delivery well thats how long it took for my business cards and my girlfriends cards and calendar. I think mine took longer as I can remember it was almost a year ago. JMB

Holzhacker, I like the idea of a FOG calendar with some sort of contests to get your picture selected.
I'm kind of neutral about a carpenter's apron as I still have three or four good quality canvas (made in Canada) aprons.
JMB, I have had some experience with Vistaprint and agree that their pricing is very eratic. I lucked out with them a couple of months ago and got 250 good quality business cards and stainless steel business card case shipped to me for $18.50. I think that was a great deal. But, I don't really want anything more from them and I have been unable to get them to stop sending me email about their latest deals. I get email from them three or four times a week.

My last order was for 500 custom business cards with my logo and design, blank back and matte finish. They cost $13.14, delivered. It took about a week. I thought it came from Canada, which was a surprise. I thought that was a pretty good deal, but I'm comparing it to local printing that I've seen.
You're right, JMB. They do play games on their website. I just ignore the games and go straight for what I want. It's kind of like going to a store where they have people in stations with samples all over trying to entice you to buy something you had no intention of buying. It doesn't work on me - I just eat or drink the sample and go on to what I came to get.

Tom, Thats not bad price I cant remember what I payed but I remember looking around and it was pretty much the same but I decided to go with them as I licked the design and the metal case I got with it ''discounted''
Im glad i'm not the only one thinking the website was odd! lol
