Makita 18v railsaw on festool rail??
« on: September 05, 2018, 05:25 PM »
I've recently purchased the makita 18v railsaw and have used it on an old festool rail i had sitting around but have found it cuts really close to the edge of the track leaving perhaps only around 1mm of the rubber showing when you cut for the first time. I'm ready to invest in new rails, bag and other accessories and would of prefered the festool rail route down to the slight better quality and better accessories but the way it's cut has put me off a little
Anyone got experience of using the makita 18v plunge saw on makita and festool rails? And how much of the rubber it leaves on both?
My previous experience of using my older corded festool on the festool rail was that it left a comfortable margin of 3-4mm of rubber showing after first cut

They cut the same way on the Makita rails. You can adjust the saw away from the fence. I adjusted mine so my cordless Makita, corded Makita and TS 75 all cut the same.

Thanks for the info mike. You mean with the two adjusters on the base plate? Surely they limit movement as they seem to have an optimum position for smooth running of the saw on track. Too tight and the saw doesnt run freely or too loose and there is slack and play?

For the makita it’s the 4 screws (2 per side) under the bevel adjusters. They have room to move the blade sideways about 1-2mm depending on where they are set now but you obviously have to ensure the toe is correct after adjustment. Makita suggest parallel in their guide.
