I just saw the release on the safety glasses and tape measure.  Glasses looked nice but that tape measure has the usual Festool ingenuity!  Love the hole for making circles and the top view so you don't have to bend the tape and guess at a measurement.  It will also help me to build the relationship between imperial and metric as I slide o so precariously down the slope that is building in metric units.  I'll be ordering this as soon as it's available.

Might as well add a tool to your order too, so you can get the "free" shipping.... Grin

Howard,

These items are currently available.  I can tell you that in checking which dealers had ordered these yesterday it looks like availability may be spotty.  I suggest you contact your dealer of choice and check availability.

Ahh,

The Festool sun err Saftey glasses.

Comes with two lenses  folks. Clear and smoke

This is the smoke, obviously.

Now it also comes complete with a darling little belt purse,

perfect for disco roller blading. Though I think I am not the first to mention this.

On the other hand if you need to pack a .25 colt with that speedo, itsa keeper.

My guess is you could pack a .32 and maybe even a snub nose .38 in that cool pack.  And look good while you're at it.

That tape looks very nice.

It is - mine arrived Wednesday. Hard to believe there could be any 'innovation' applied to a tape measure, but there you go... My only minor gripe is that the scale shown in the window on top of the tape body is upside down in normal use i.e. with the body of the tape in your right hand. But very nice all the same.

Now all I need is a 5 metre version Wink

Cheers, Pete

Is the tape measure made in China?

The tool/drill holder that was limited supply was.  It's still a great tool, but yes, China, not Germany.  Christian, remember it's $5 for the Chinese stuff and $25 for the German.  We in the U.S. have our limits and standards.

I purchased a 25' "Big Johnson" tape measure, made in England, for a lot less than $25.00.  Festool should be ashamed to have their name on a "made in China" product!

I think that the Festool tape measure...

...is a "re-badged" version of the BMI 405 Viso Tape...

BMI is a German firm, and the BMI 405 Viso tape is made in Germany. It is therefore extremely likely that the Festool tape is also made at the same factory in Germany.
