After a long search/comparison my buddy decided to get the OF1010 router. His needs are pretty basic because he's going to use it solely for building out his shop in his garage. What would the one or two most needed/useful accessories be for the OF1010 considering he's not making fine furniture and since we're both of "vintage" age it's unlikely he'll need a whole bunch of the available accessories.

Since the OF1010 doesn't (any longer) come with the Edge Guide, that might be at the top of your list. The Extension Table and Edge Trimming Accessories may also be of interest... |

I have most of the 1010 accessories. I recomend that you buy them as you need them--- not trying to be silly. I think Eiji Fuller had some cool videos on the 1010 I use my rail sled quite a bit.

The two things I have found myself wishing I had are a rail and the edge guide.
Other then those the only other things I am thinking about are the edging plate (486058), Chip Deflector (486242) and angle arm (486052) to be able to flush trim edge banding.
I think you mentioned in another thread that your friend might do some inlay work, he may want to check out some of the template guide plates too...

I got the fine adjuster (488754) I used it a little bit jury is still out on it, The edging plate (486058) used for edge band trimming along with the Angle Arm (486052) which I use a lot.
I was using the chip deflector ( 486242) when cutting edge banding buts its kinda hassle to put on if Im inna hurry.
I do recommend the edge guide

I think an edge guide and a copy ring are the basics to have with a router, i was surprised they didn't supply a copy ring standard with my OF1010. The rest of the options are quite specific and not everybody has a use for them.
But whats the deal with not supplying the edge guide with the 1010? is it a NA thing to make it appear cheaper? My 1010 came with the edge guide, chip catcher, rail adapter and FS/2 800 rail.

Well the edge guide is around $38 I think but the router does com with the rods it attaches to. I've been thinking about just attaching a block of wood as my own home made edge guide until I can get one. It's not rocket science  Jim |

If he is going to build lots of cabinets with adjustable shelves and euro-hinges, the LR32 hole drilling accessory makes it so easy.
