What the frog? [eek]

What's wrong with the 'plain' PLANEX?

I don't think anyone would have predicted this.

@Phil Beckley, could you maybe summarize the differences between the Planex and Planex Easy? I see that the new model has a brushless motor, for one thing. And the motor orientation has been changed.

Looks like you cannot add and remove the handle segments either.

Thanks.

Sooo, same thing, but with a brushless motor, smaller size, lighter weight and non-extendable arm. If it's a lot cheaper it'll be a winner.

The handle segments are what make my Planex work for me- I can add or remove as needed when working a wall or a ceiling. I can however see that the cost of the segments, or that sales were slow due to the cost of them adds to a design change on version 2.0.
Or maybe  people just use taller ladders and work stations to get around owning them for overhead work.
At any rate, I'd hate to see them go and be stuck with a fixed length handle on the 'new' Planex.   [huh]

I think this an additional version, not a replacement. I'm sure Phil can confirm. Think of it as the Planex LITE version. Based strictly on conversion rates, it would be about $900USD.

That makes even less sense to me. Why carry the two models on what is already a VERY specialized sander?... [blink]

i can see myself adding this to my arsenal but it will never replace my current planex mainly due to removable handles. Glad to hear this an addition and not a replacement to the current planex.

I love the idea that it comes in bag and ready for use with much less setup time then the current planex

Hi
I started the thread with the title 'Planex Easy from Festool available 2017' with the intention of supplying accurate information on this product. For those with an interest in the Planex Easy the early information can / could have been found here and been beneficial - which is one of the founding the ideas of the Festool Owners Group........ however I fail to see the relevance of your point in this thread bearing in mind the title.

I suppose it's a bit of a doubled edged sword (so to speak) with the Planex Easy. Making it one piece maximises Festool's opportunity to reduce weight, but the cost is the bulky bag format to cart around.

I can imagine serious dry wali pros getting both Planex(s) (Planexes? @Phil Beckley what's the plural of Planex?) 2400mm ceilings/walls would be sweet for the Easy, but you'd still want big brother for the tall stuff, stair wells, etc.

....plural, not sure on that. I assume Planex stand for 'Plane excellence or working off a flat 'plane'
The bag in comparison to a certain competitor is small and well designed. You're correct for high ceilings the LHS 225 version would be the one to go for.

The planex easy looks nice. I'm expecting it is not available in the USA for now? Price point is less and i suspect the same size consumables. I held off on the planex for now due to price, so hopefully this is within my budget. Do you still need the ct36-ac vac wither planex easy?

Hi
The US will need to step in on availability for the Us - I only have the EU countries
Lower price point than LHS 225
Pad size is 215mm to take the 225mm Brilliant or Granat abrasives
For sure use the Planex extractor CT36 E AC as the Auto Clean is needed for the fine dust along with the flexible black hose to wok with
