Question about new braided hose I just bought
« on: April 28, 2018, 10:31 PM »
I just bought one of the new "braided" hoses (product #500677) that are smooth on the outside to replace my old hose.  Problem is my Festool tools are several years old and don't have the newer style dust ports that are designed to work with the newer style hose fittings on the braided hoses.  I'm finding that the newer hose fitting doesn't seat as well in my old TS55's dust port, and it's harder to push onto the barbed ports on my various Festool sanders.

What's the fix for this?  Is it possible to install an older style smooth rubber fitting on the end of my new braided hose?

I’ve heard they get better with a bit of wear, and I thought someone said they sanded the inside of one of their hoses to ease the effort of attaching a tool.

If you still have the old hose you should be able to pop the end off and see if it fits the new Hose.
I don't have a new one to compare, but imagine it would work fine.

I tried buying some of the old style 27mm (tool) hose end fittings -
To swap out with new style end fittings. Couldn’t find ‘em... Anywhere.
From reading the FOG - It doesn’t seems like folks like the new style - At all.
But... I guess we’re stuck with ‘em. [unsure]
An “improvement” to a problem that didn’t exist...
And made things worse.

I now hook up my Festool tools - And other tools - Using the -
Dust Right® Universal Small Port Hose Kit. Rocker Item #:48212
Fits just fine on all of ‘em -  Including over the new “twist-lock” fittings now coming on new Festool tools.
At Rockler and Amazon - $39.95 - At the time of this post.

I've got an old style for a 27mm i'd be hapy to get rid of... it's just sitting around!
