RO90 abrasives Australia
« on: October 09, 2018, 05:03 AM »
Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone knows any Australian suppliers who sell RO90 abrasives in smaller quantities? Ideally packs of 5-10. I’m keen to get my RO90 soon but the budget doesn’t stretch far enough for packs of 50 to 100. Also it would be good to try the different types of abrasives.

Thank you, your helf is very much appreciated.

Andy

Your local supplier should be able to help.  My local fellow is so keen to split boxes of papers that I've never as yet got a full box of 50/100 from him:  even special orders!  There's invariably some missing:  each box needs to be counted.

Start with the fellow you purchased the tool from.  Try with say 100 assorted at first (i.e. make it worth his time & effort). Building a positive relationship with suppliers/customers is half the battle in business.  If you've bought through mail order (i.e. elsewhere), then I'd imagine s/he'd be less favourably disposed to your proposals.  If you only want 5-10 at a time s/he might be more dismissive of time wasters.

I’ve tried a few suppliers with no luck, but I do have one supplier in mind who I could ask. Would you mind sharing your supplier in case he’s not willing to split?

I’m all for buying in bulk, but I need 8 different grits for both pads, so I’m looking at well over $600. I’ll see how I go tomorrow and report back.

My FESTOOL dealer in Melbourne will usually do this for me, but I have developed a long term relationship. Quite often there are already split boxes on the shelves, but not by any means, in all sizes and grits.
If you don't like Signatures, just go to Look and Layout and tick No Signatures.

Andrew, my supplier/s are in Tas.  Not much use to you as a New Southern Welshman.

I haven’t had much luck trying to get a supplier to split boxes of abrasives. I’m now wondering if there are other members who would be interested in splitting with me? I have one member already who is interested, if there is another three members I think it could work. Just need to work out what abrasives, eg granat, rubin etc, and grits and I could post them out?

I’m after 40, 60, 80, 120, 180, 240, 320 and 400. Maybe also higher grits. If there is 5 members to split with, we could each get 10 discs in 40, 60, 80 and 20 for the rest? Could do the same with the delta abrasives also.

Let me know if interested.

Cheers,
Andy

Not a bad idea. I’d be happy to participate. I’ve just bought my ro90 so I’m after both round and triangle abrasives in the grits you mentioned. I do mostly wood so Rubin is fine with me, but I’m also happy to use granats.

Keep me informed. Also if it’s not going ahead in a reasonable timeframe (within a month or 2) let me know also.

At this stage I won’t be going ahead with the bulk order. I didn’t think there was much interest and I ended up finding a supplier who would sell me individuals. In saying that, if down the track there is enough interest I might consider doing it again. I hope I didn’t stuff anyone’s plans up...
