Domino XL and Domino
«

I have been using my Domino's a lot lately and ran into a little problem with lining up the machine to cut a mortise in the center of a board to insert a rail. I wanted to install 4 rails in a line 5 inches from the edge. WHat I did was clamp a scrap piece of material to the board and measured accordingly. But knowing all the great features of the tool I was wondering if there was any other ways of doing it. HAs anyone tried this with their tool?

Welcome to the forum.
You really don't *have* to measure per se. If you strike a line with where you want the center of your mortise, there are indicators on the Domino and XL that show center line of cut.
Check this thread for more info.

Hope that helps some.

Welcome to the FOG!
Do you have any pictures? That usually helps in getting good tips from people.
