Thirty foot, Thats right 30 foot of guide rail
« on: January 24, 2007, 04:22 PM »
Hello Every One,

Often the subject comes up about guide rail linkage.

Some do, some don't. Link em up that is.

I have never had a problem randomly linking any of our rails together.

I don't do any thing special. No secret way, no mystery and no complaint.

I don't  whip out my digital calipers or gun smithing tools.

Just take a quick look and cut.

Today we trimmed the back of the front bar with the 1400 and a 1/2 inch

straight bit. tomorrow add the drink rail.

Then the Bar rail goes on.

Some minor punch list items and its check please.

And with a little forethought concerning the boom you hardly had to move the Vac, I'll bet. Good stuff, Per.

If we ever have a Festool rendezvous we should all bring our guiderails a go for a Guiness record,eh?

"Looks like a nice place to work:)"

It looks great 'cause all those surfaces you see, especially the ceiling,
(except maybe the tile floor) Per and crew put there.

I've gone about 40 feet with a single 2700 guide rail by sliding a straight edge along behind it. 30 feet of joined rail is a lot just to flip over to tighten the connector screws.

The room is looking great. Thanks for posting the pics.

A fix that has worked for me to keep down snags with the cord wire on the boom arm is velcro  every foot from boom to tool.Different tools need different amounts of wire at tool. With velcro it is an easy fix .Saves time and frustration.

Rail-ly nice!!! :D

A most excellent demonstration of "extreme Festool", Per. And you've taken that place from being a "dive" to being a really classy and classic space. Bravo!

Per,

Your work it simply magnificant.   And what you do on-site...   It's better than the vast majority of expert woodworkers can do in their own shop under controlled conditions!!!  Now...

Let's discuss this 30 foot guide rail thing...   Is this one of those male things?  Ya know...  "My rail is biggern' your rail!!!"   Are we dealin' with inadequacy issues?  A certain problem in your childhood?  Inquiring minds want to know!!!   8)

Dan.

OK, OK!   Yes, your rail IS bigger than mine!   But I'm workin' on it.  But I'm man enough to admit it.   So there!

Yeah, we could probably arrange a "cut across a county."

Per,
A convincing picture - a 30 ft guide rail. I see the boom arm. Did you have the Boom Arm Follower (pn 493 509a) and did it actually move the boom/vacuum smoothly behind your router?

John,

Of course we also have the boom arm follower.

Sorry folks its not available in the US until late 07,

due to UL approval.

Oh sure you guys say.......

No, my cousins in Norway sent it over for me.

Seeing as you don't plug it in, I don't know what

the delay is.

If any body wants one, e- mail me and I'll have Sigurd

ship over a couple.

Here is a pic.

Per,
Very impressive!  But then again, I was already very impressed with your work, even before this.  I'm always wondering what else you've got up your sleeves to show us!

Thanks for the shots.

Hi Per,

I have spent the last 1/2 hour looking for a picture of the "boom arm follower" via Festool International with no luck.   I even searched on the UK site with the Festool number John Lucas posted but that didn't work either.

Would it be possible to post a picture or a "link" to a Festool description of this accessory.

Thanks, jim

Per,

Too cool.  8) You and Bob have done not only an excellent job on the installation but on the molding and trim you made.  ;D Check out some of their carvings in the pic's. How much for the jolly follower? ???
