Bought an HK 55 EBQ but unfortunately after unpacking I noticed the blade cover moved really rough. Removed the blad and saw that the steel cable is damaged and has started fraying...
A bit surprised this get though quality control to be honest.

Been a tad busy with the move to the country and getting life 2.0 sorted. Haven't been buying much Festool (though the other brands stuff for farm life is smashing the bank balance).

There were a few casualties from the move so it time to tidy up the kit, so ....

When I'm done with outside stuff I've got a small laundry to remodel, then a kitchen ... then some furniture. After that the bigger stuff should follow. Don't know what I can justify yet ... but maybe a new Festool or two [big grin]

Well I couldnt help myself since I retired today, I thought Id celebrate by getting the VAC SET With the VAC VT Sort and a couple of those container sets that PP demo'd in his storage video. those containers are as he would say brillant they really help organizeing the tool box and the sys MFT and the 3 drawer Sortainers.

So here it is Friday night 7PM SoCal time and I text Bob and he answered and took my order it would be 10pm his time..WoW Bob is awesome

Agreed @Kev - any progress on the shop?

@jobsworth - congrats.  Now you have the time for all those woodworking projects that you've been accumulating.  Isn't that how it's supposed to work?

Congratulations!  May your retirement allow you to concentrate on all those non-work things you put off, couldn't do, or just plain wanted to do.

@HarveyWildes

Indecision has become my new favourite pastime [embarassed] When we first viewed the place when we were buying it I had a solid plan for the location of the workshop. Now I'm torn on 3 locations and haven't made a final decision. In the mean time I've built a 5x5m shed to get by and do my pondering while fishing [wink] The original location is a ~10 minute walk from the house and I thought I could put a shorter path through a valley - but that appears to be quite a challenge, the second location is much higher with lovely mountain range views .. but my wife wants that space for a studio, so there's a conflict on that spot. The third location is even further from the house and I'm close to squashing that.

I do not usually post much in this thread, but I picked up a used FT sander off of ebay, and it shows as "being in the post" today.

Are you buying other green things for your farm life, for example JD. Been doing similar to you for a few years now, we have the land but only just starting the exciting stuff like building a garage/workshop and then a house.

Hi @Grakat I was looking at a John Deere 4066RCAB (+bucket, +slasher, etc), but it's primary role of slashing the steeper hillsides doesn't add up when I can pay someone to do it for the next 30 years at a third of the cost (and no personal time and no fuel and servicing costs) ... so now I'm thinking a smaller loader with things like trenching and post hole attachments makes sense. I have got a Polaris Ranger 1000 that I use for spraying and general muck about, a Cub Cadet with a 60" deck and lots of maintenance stuff (big self drive Toro mower, Chipmaster shredder and lots of orange stuff [Stihl]).

Have a look at the JD 3038e if you want to achieve largely the same result without costing a bomb. I'm guessing my block is a lot smaller than yours, as I am looking at 1025R or the new 2025R with loader and backhoe.

Actually the 3045 rops was the low end of my thinking, with the 4066 cab at the top. I'm now thinking bobcat track loader with attachments and using a combination of the slasher guy we're using and a few goats [smile]

@Holmz ... from the people I've talked to goats are more likely to nosh on the steeper slopes and they require less care. I'm a novice so I'll probably blunder my way through this [embarassed]

I was thinking that maybe the goats were the 4x4 version for the steeper slopes.

Lambs are the "I want to keep my grass short" animal. Goats are the "I want to strip the place" animal lol.

Just ordered the CXS from Uncle Bob.  I've been agonizing over adding another battery platform but the size and right angle function. pushed me over my reluctance.  So no I have 12 and 18V Milwaukee's, 18v Fein, 18v Festool and 10.8v Festool.  Jeez!  [sad]

My latest purchase was an LR32 and holey rail.  Working on a pantry for my niece so I got to use the LR32.  Worked great.
