I took my Domino into work today, I wanted to show the cabinet installer guy's how it works (on my 1/2 hr lunch break) ok, so ten minutes into my little show, there's a bunch of other guy's there- glazer, floor tile guy, painter and a few of the carpenters on the crew. It's fun! most didn't know it existed, or even that there was a dealer in town. (three places locally now sell Festool) Then back at work I demonstrated the RAS  :D:D man I gotta see if Festool will toss me a commission! Demonstrating their products is fun! but 1/2 hour lunch isn't long enough to do that effectively. Maybe next week I'll take in my TS55.... or then the Kapex.... |

i find myself doing that too. showing clients etc... its funny how we pay more than usual and then advertise for them. just like a client hiring a good contractor i guess.

Yeh - funny how a plain t-shirt is cheaper than one with somebody's brand on it too! Maybe Festool should sell their gear on a party plan ... imagine instead of women meeting up to drink chardonnay and buy Tupperware or Victoria's Secret - it's blokes with beer, pizza and power tools. I think I'd be first in line  |

It has started already...
I went to Toolfest in Woking to pick up some bits and pieces and I was given coffee, a couple of biscuits (NAINA - where they have cookies) and I had some really interesting chats with my friend Warren (who runs the place), his delightful helpers and other customers.

That's OK - we're just refining the format ... instead of Peter modelling a designer plaid shirt, we'll have Victoria's Secret models showing us how to safely work faster with Festool. I'm fine with that. |

one thing about showing someone how a Festool works is that it really makes you think about all the features, and in what logical order you set each feature. The domino has many settings, depending upon what it is you want to do - it takes time! I didn't have time to go into all of the iterations, heck I don't know them all! I've found (like me) that too many things at once can be confusing so I just showed how to do a plunge cut, and change bits etc.' It really is a lot of fun |

I had a first time experience a couple of weeks ago. I was replacing a beam under a floor and was using my 2700 mm rail as a straight edge to measure progress on the floor when the customer said "That looks familiar. Festool." Turns out he has a TS-55 and an older Rotex 150. Great guy and customer. I gave him the pair of Festool safety glasses I got at the Festool Connect event. Now he has three. Paying it forward works. When picking up my check I got the tour of his shop in his new home. Turns out he has a Minimax 20 bandsaw with a resaw blade permanently installed and is willing to resaw some of my rather expensive lumber.  Peter |

The tools in my truck were talking the other day. The Dewalts, PC's, Boschs, Makitas were not happy. They also were in the minority. Their complaint: They felt unused and unappreciated since the Festools moved in. I guess the truth hurts.

I am surprised at how many in the trades haven't heard about Festools. I guess I spend way too much time on the 'net Tomorrow is TS day, taking it in to cut several tapered peices of 3/4 plywood - with my 9' rail. I think I need to program some dramatic music on my Iphone - thinking "eye of the tiger" as I walk in with the TS LOL |

I helped a student at the High School shop with my Domino. It took several sessions, so I brought in a few different tools each time - routers, TS55, Bowclamps and my MFT/3 was there each time. The students and the teacher were all amazed at the capabilities of the tools and how little mess there was to clean up. I think next time, they'll be ready to see some sanders....

Im still meeting people who have never heard of festool OR if they have they just find it to expensive and not worth the cost! EVERY ONE of them have eventually bought a TS55 after meeting and working with me (Although one lad did buy a Mafel 55 another lad bought the Makita one after seeing me using the TS55)
Now I always keep thinking to my self WHY WHY do I do it to my self! I don't get any commission from Festool or any extra benefits in advertising their products! All I am doing is Damaging my chances of getting more work in the future! AND damaging the trade in my area!
Because other trades men can now do a better and quicker job also but also its raising the bar in the area so eventually people will expect a joiner/carpenter to own a TS55 for cutting down sheets just like you expect a joiner/carpenter to own a hammer and chisel.
So even though I like festool to do well and sell I do like the low profile they have it helps me to keep ahead of the game over others! Im glad its expensive cus it worms out the crappy joiner/carpenters who are always narrow minded and think its just like any other tool whats the difference just the high price etc.... cus them type of trades men are often crap any way.
