I like the Centrotec  concept  but it is a little hard to break into since the current options are mostly buying single pieces or waiting for the next big Systainer set , which is also a big  chunk of money. I think it would be great if there was a small set of bits available all the time.

Something landing between $75 and $150 USD.  Eight to Twelve pieces that are commonly used. The following is a list that I would like in that set. None of them overlap with the Starter Set that comes with the drills, and all are currently available from Festool (no square drive).  I'd be interested to see what everyone else would put in that set within the same guidelines.

Imperial Wood (Brad Pt.) Bits in 1/8", 1/4", 3/8" (one each).

5 - 15 mmm Countersink.

100mm Drivers in #2 Phillips, #15 torx, (one each).

25mm (wire detent) in #2 Phillips, #15, # 20, #25 Torx (two  each)

3/8" Socket adapter (maybe)?

Hand Driver (maybe) ?

I left out the twist drills in holders because they are only available in metric, and it is more likely that the actual (exact) size would be required in a twist drill than a bard point.

What set would you put together for the USA?

I think you're going to see a bit of variety in sets that come out that are compatible with the new T-Loc storage lids. Don't know how long that sort of stuff will take to filter through to NA.

The Protool range has had storage lids in traditional systainers for a while. You can fit three of the small modular Protool bit sets in the storage lids.

Because the storage lid is smaller in the T-Loc, due to the handle's shape, the current modules aren't compatible. So they'll obviously be bringing out new ones and the set in the bonus CXS set is just a taste.

Modular add in sets like the ProTool stuff would be cool.  I was thinking this would be an easy way to get started, just enough items to really  be able to use the Centrotec without swapping to the Jacobs chuck but not so many that it would be pricey. I also envisioned the Expansion Set to be a  good price compared to buying seperates.

I need a  Centrotec chuck for standard 1/4" ball detent bits.

Not a bit holder, not an adapter, but a chuck.

Like Product No. 492135 but for standard ball detent bits.

I don't think that would work because the shaft of those bits on the drill side of the ball detent groove is too short to engage in the output shaft of the drill. That's the Centrotec trick.

What set would you put together for the USA?

Not sure that a set is going to match what I want so I've been putting together what I want piecewise. I've got the stubby bit set, the two socket drivers and the twinbox on order.

Maybe there is a reward.  But that sure wouldn't win it.

Anyway, my combined chuck idea wouldn't work as Tom pointed out.  I need to start a separate wish and we can talk about it there.

So what I really want is a sortainer - with a variety of tool holding Centrotec components to build my own kit.  And then I could keep my non-Centrotec stuff with it because Festool is unlikely to provide all the things I desire in Centrotec.  Few people are going to have the same needs and habits.  A build your own approach is likely the only way to allow broad appeal to something like this.  Has anyone actually found a prepackaged bit/drill/driver set they actually liked as-is?

Welcome to the FOG!

The current Centrotec Snappy offerings from Woodcraft are filling the void  in Festool Centrotec  for me. In fact the small set  offerings are the type of thing I was asking about  in this thread. Granted there are a lot of different set formulations depending on what work is being done, but certainly enough  commonality that a couple of 6 - 10 piece add on sets by Festool would be good. But Festool needs to make drill/countersinks with smaller bit sizes for it to really come together.
