I remembered this one today.

One of my shopmates was in the middle of the shop, needing to plug in a light. His CT22 was right there, so naturally, he plugged the lamp into the socket that was there. And, naturally, this activated the dust collection.

I don't imagine that it would be oh so hard to allow a pass-through circuit in the vac so that the socket still worked in the switch's off position. Running a light, or a battery charger... or any other helpful, but non dust producing device, even for a little while, form that socket would be very helpful. But without all the sucking and the noise.

On my Fein vac's if you set them to manual the outlet stays hot so you can do exactly as you describe.

I missed that feature as soon as I purchased the Festool CT's.

The one who says it can't be done should avoid interrupting the person doing it.

I can see where the designer would consider it safer to have designed the CT like it is now - so that you have to intentionally make the outlet hot.

I could also see where another setting or another "pass-through" outlet would be handy at times.

I like it just the way it is, I recently used a hitachi vac with two switches vac on/off and auto/man, I was complaining about the lack of suction when I used it with my TS55... turned out  the vac wasn't running. I too sometimes use the vac for a tool that doesn't need dust extraction for a short while; but I don't mind the sucking and the noise; I really hate the no suction when I do need it.
