Locking mechanism on the hose swivel on the ts55.  I want to keep the hose from swivelling down and catching on everything.  Tape has worked to this point.  I like the hose permanently fixed facing to the left, right, or up.  I wish the swivel couldn't swing in the down position at all in fact, just a way to catch on the work table or work piece.

How about a shelf for the MFT that is made the same as the top but fits onto the siderails and is below table level that can hold clamps, dogs, etc when not in use, which keeps the main top clear but are close at hand.

Again with the MFT, a traditional type woodworking vise that fits onto the side rails.

Festool has tool + vac sets, tool + MFT sets, cordless drill sets.  I wish they made more.

When I bought my Bosch Colt router I bought the complete set.  It has bases for just about everything.  I added a few more accessories as they came out and it is now my go-to router for 1/4" bits.  Years ago I bought a B&D router.  It has no accessories.  I almost never use it.

I think Festool would sell more tools if they were fully accessorized.  Create mini sets, mid-level sets and complete sets.  Offer them at a discount, like they do with the CTs and MFTs and I believe they will sell like hotcakes.  [thumbs up]

. Intriguing but confusing. A lot of Festool items that I buy come with accessories in the box, err, systainer with the tool. Since some of the not-included accessories are ether pricey or specialized, I and others would hold off until we could either afford them or actually need them for an upcoming project.
There's probably a price point marketing plan somewhere in all of this too. [smile]

I'll bet you could put together something like "The Remodeler's Kit" and include a CT, TS55, MFT/3, router, jigsaw, sander, etc, all accessorized with what would normally be used by tradesmen doing remodeling work in customer homes, and they would sell.  Never underestimate the power of the deal.   ;)  And never underestimate the attraction of making the job easier, including buying tools.  ;D

Something else I was thinking about is in all my time on construction jobsites (34 years) I never once saw a Festool. I never even heard the name mentioned.  Many tool manufacturers would send out reps in tool trucks and they were instantly swarmed. Milwaukee used to be the most common tool I would see.  Before I retired it was DeWalt and I attribute that to DeWalt's marketing.

Different in Oz, my local Festool dealer is only 10 minutes away. They have a Festool/Protool Van that does the rounds, job sites, TAFE's, body shops, etc. I'm really surprised that's not happening in the US!

I have seen a few retailers locally offering a "everything you need to be a .... " kind of kit (I'm not talking Festool here). If they're good packages they could be a particularly attractive offering (especially if you can swap pieces you may already have for other items of similar value).

Hi Guy's,

New over here, and Dutch as i am: i have a small cross-line laser from Gadella. It just puts an + set of lines on a wall.  If Festool made one that has three axes (like a horizontal and two verticals 90 degrees apart), i  would be sold.  [cool]
It would save so much time....

How bout an auxiliary base table with shelving (or CT cabinet) and mobility that is made to directly mount an MFT/3 while maintaining the 900mm table height. Ideally on casters that can be retracted to provide full table stability when stationary. ???

An edge guide for the OF1400 that works with the extended base. This base is a necessity for edge work, but it is thicker than the regular base. The edge guide can't slide underneath the thicker base (and close to the bit) like it can with the regular base. The edge guide body is in two parts (a fence section and a rod attachment section) which enables the micro-adjuster to function. A spacer could be created (~12mm) that would allow the fence section to drop just beneath the thick base, and then slide underneath.

The LR32 can be used to drill construction holes (cross-panel) as well as system holes. A 32in rail would be much more convenient for the typical 12-24in panel widths.

How about a :
1) rotating bench light for the Mft table that has a magnifier and a laser guide
2) bench-top planer with dust collection
3) bandsaw
4) cordless track saw
5) domino jig for mortising hinges, key locks, etc.
6) vise system that uses one or more suction cups to hold work piece
7) portable jig to convert cordless drill into a bench-top drill press
8) hand-held electric edge plane
9) domino biscuits for 5 mm bit that is 40 mm long
10) electric chisels
11) fully automated Mft table that is also height adjustable
12) festool tool apron

I wish festool would build a Bluetooth chip into their tools, similar to this :http://www.thetileapp.com/
So that you could find your tools, or set a reminder on your smart phone for yourself not to
leave home without this or that tool.
A smart phone app could tell you that the tool you wanted isn't in the truck before you leave home or the job site. And aid in finding missing and stolen tools.
The chip could be battery powered and recharge its self every time external power is supplied.
What do you guys think? Would you pay an extra $20 per tool to have that functionality?

Mattfc here on fog was talking to me about same thing at
Tool show a while back

He was more for not forgetting your tools on the job.  You can simply look at device and see if all your tools are in the van.

The technology is so cheap it wouldn't even have to be an extra 20dollars festool could add it for free.

Another idea was to have stickers with the technology in the sticker so tools which don't have this already built in you can simply stick the sticker onto the tool your self.

half of UK bank cards/credit cards now have wireless pay  this same
Technology would easily be attached to a tool

I wish Festool made a 12"   Kapex.     It's really silly to be limited  to  3   1/2 "  depth of cut.

I'm being forced to go to Makita or Bosch.

in an effort to save you a lot of frustration, stay away from the Makita LS1016. I have had it for years and think i have spent more time adjusting it than cutting with it!  the fence is junk, never flat across and breaks with the slightest kickback    and the bevel detents (especially 0*) are a joke  so many more things i could rant about but no one wants to hear it... just dont buy it

i cant really comment on their LS1216 but it looks like a exact copy so i would imagine that it has a lot of the same problems

Is it really resricted to 3 1/2" cuts?  Even in the 'special' mode where it cuts like a chop saw?

Dont know if I mentioned this before, but I wish festool would design a replaceable sacrificial strip for their MFTs. One that aligns with the cross cut rail and another for lengthwise cutting.

rather then replacing the entire table top, we could just replace the sacrificial strip as needed.

I already made one for cross cutting.

Routed a 2" w by 3/8 deep groove into the mft top. I used a dovetail bit to dovetail the inner edges to prevent movement and attached it with screws ensuring that they are out of the path of the TS 55 blade.

When it gets pretty thrashed, I just make up another out of scrap and install it.  When my tools finally get here, Im going to make one up for length wish to cut the length of the MFT. kinda like a L pattern.

Saves replacing the top all the time.

I know the top is considered replaceable. But at $145 or more bucks a pop. It can add up.

some longer MFT connectors would be nice to.

How about tongue and groove MFT top pieces? Awesome way to build a bench ... 2 metre lengths. C'mon Festool - or anyone with a CNC !
