Retractable Cord Reel - Battery charger
« on: May 13, 2017, 06:37 PM »
Same concept as a retractable air hose reel. How much larger would the charger housing actually have to be. This could be integrated into either the bottom or the side of the battery charger case/housing. Need to provide a recess to house the plug end as well. You extract the length you need to reach power source (most times I only need 18-20" of cord). When done a quick short pull on the cord and it retracts back into the case.

It's an integrated cord garage for your battery charger  [smile]

You know when that new battery powered tool arrives and the battery charger cord is tightly coiled and contained with a twisty of some sort from the factory. Once you uncoil that cord for use you know you're not going to coil it back that tight again. Most times if not neatly coiled and contained she don't fit too good in the case that shipped with the tool.

What if the charger just had a female "plug-it" in it? It would be easier to fit back in the case with no cord attached to it.

They're not really good for anything,

but they still bring a smile to your face
when you push them down a flight of stairs.

That works!
Another wish in respect to the charger cord is would like to see the cords made with a flexible cold weather type insulation jackets. Seems most charger cords are entry level rigid lamp cord type insulation with memory issues.

While I think this would neat, I personally don't want to pay the weight, size and specifically cost penalty that would come along with such a design.

I doubt anyone could design and produce this economically enough to make it an option/upgrade over the standard charger. Not enough people would buy it.

A really pliable flexible soft power cord would be a GREAT improvement over the current cord for sure.
The charger cord for my fein multimaster is 5 times stiffer than the festool and just a total pain to do anything with.
