Surfix applicator and Osmo PolyX Hard Wax Oil?
« on: June 13, 2017, 12:21 PM »
Can you buy the Surfix applicator dry, without oil?

If you can, would it be good for applying Osmo PolyX?

I would think they're available as a consumable.... [scratch chin]
They work for large areas, but I prefer a rag for detail work or small spaces. Those pads are pretty big.
Not as many Sanders as PA Floor guy.....

I searched EKAT about 6 months ago and couldn't find a thing. Even searching for SurFix produced zero results.  [tongue]

I don't believe you can buy an "empty" refill bottle, but the oil sponges are available in a pack of 5 (part number 498070), and you can buy a starter set that includes an oil bottle, the base plate, and a sponge (498060, 498061, 498062).
[NOTE: Tools from other manufacturers are of course available. As this is the Festool Owners Group, I tend to limit my advice to the tools that Festool sell, and assume that you've come to this site to get advice on Festool tools and because the level of skill and experience of the community here outstrips most you'll find elsewhere. If you *are* interested in tools from other manufacturers, please mention it in your post and also take the time to visit their user forums too.]

Thanks guys!

Too bad, sponges by themselves, I have.

I have oil too, just need the Surfix container.

Leaky says the thing is big, what about those car wax applicators with a small sponge top?
Wonder if one of those could be cleaned well enough to be suitable?
