A very minor question, but here goes. Is there a way to correct the time stamp in my profile and on my posts? This site thinks the time is an hour earlier than it really is in Arizona. It seems to me the time was correct until the country went off daylight time. BTW, AZ never goes onto daylight savings time. Thanks.
ps - I reset the time offset in my profile, so the time is now correct, at least for the next few months.

David, That's odd. The time is reported accurately on my machine. Is anyone else experiencing a time error? Matthew

I'm in Arizona and I also see the current time reported as one hour earlier than actual time.

Yes, I am (though I've just manually altered it again) - I had manually altered it a few weeks ago, as it was wrong then, but it seems to have lost an hour somewhere.... Has the local time there just changed 'cos of DST? BTW, I'm 6 hours in front - if I click 'auto detect' it changes to 7, which is wrong. Still, the last time I altered it the auto detect kept trying to change it to -17!!!!

Matthew - I strongly suspect the error was introduced when the USA went off daylight savings time a few weeks ago. Since Arizona does not go on or off DST, the automatic correction becomes incorrect by an hour when the rest of the country changes time. Windows has a seperate time zone for Arizona to compensate for this situation.

David and Others, I just went into the forum setup and re-calibrated the time. For some reason, it was set to be "-1" from our server, which is located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Let me know if you are getting the correct time zone now. Matthew

Thanks Matthew. Now would you please adjust my "Total time logged in" to reflect the change? Some of us keep track of those kinds of things, you know.

I haven't paid attention to the time issue regarding anyone's posts. Is there possibly a Microsoft driven connection to this issue. I recall the IT department of my company re-broadcasting a warning from MS that problems were likely to occur for some time following revision in USA of daylight saving time switchovers. Those MS glitches caused messages to appear before the time they were sent and resulted in some whacky meeting/appointment scheduling until they were worked out.

Matthew - I reset the Time Offset using the Auto Detect function. It reset to the correct time, which is -2. However, it will not stay correct the next time daylight savings time goes on or off. Since this site uses an offset, the assumption is that the offset for AZ will always be -2. Since AZ does not go onto DST, the offset will change to -3 when the server goes onto DST. I doubt there is any provision for the offset to be set to a new value whenever DST goes on or off. I suspect that we folks that live in areas that do not observe DST will have to change the Time Offset manually twice a year if we want an accurate time stamp. Thanks.

David, I'll check on this with the SMF techies. However, my guess is that this is a common problem on all forums. More on this later. Matthew

David, The Forum is correct, Arizona is wrong. Actually, we used to live in Cave Creek and later up at Anthem. Every year it was the same old hassle with the time.

Good, I am always happy when it's someone else's fault! I checked into this, and there isn't anything I can do from the forum. I can only plug in one "offset" for the whole forum. After that, it's up to individual members to set their time zone. If anyone knows of a forum where this works better, please tell me. Matthew

Hey, I have the same problem, and I'm in a totally different time zone. You think this is an issue with Festool owners? Matthew

Does anybody really know what time it is? One of the individual user display preferences over at http://www.woodnet.net/forums/ is an offset in hours from server time, which is actually displayed right there, so quite easy to set and forget.

Everyone, I want everyone to have the time set right on their accounts. To help out, I put together a quick tutorial on setting your account clock. 1. Click "PROFILE" on the main menu bar. 2. Click "Look and Layout Preferences" under the "Modify Profile" options. 3. In the "Time Offset" section, look at "Current forum time:" Is it the same as your local time? - If yes, you are all set. - If no, how many hours difference there are between your time and the server time? Go to step 4. 4. In the "Time offset" box, enter the number of hours difference between your local time and the displayed server time. You can enter negative numbers here. Use the graphic below as a reference: 5. Click the "Change profile" button. Your account's clock should now be set for your local time. Matthew
