Does anyone else have an issue with posting to the FOG? When I post and the text of the post extends beyond one page, everytime I type something, the screen jumps up to the first part of the screen and prevents me from seeing what I am typing.

See example below

If I were to type lines 7 and 8, each time that I type something, the screen jumps up to line 4 or 5. I can still type line 7, but I don't see what I am typng since that line is scrolled off the screen. I am using Windows XP with IE7.

This seems similiar to what clev1066 is describing below.

Continued (I don't know why, but my browser makes it difficult to post long threads, it keeps scrolling to the top and I can't see what I'm typing at the bottom. It only happens on FOG though)....

I have this issue too...and figured it was something with my laptop. I am using Internet Explorer 7. My computer with INternet Explorer 6 doesn't have the issue. I will post in the Forum Technical section about this.

I have been having exactly the problem you describe for at least a couple of months.  By the way Ray, you have done a very good job of describing the problem.  I thought a few times about raising the issue but was not sure how to go about describing it.  Thanks!

I am using Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7.

Guys, I'll have to check this out and get back to you.  I am going to be at the Remodeling Show here in Indy today and tomorrow so it may be a couple of days before I have an answer.  Sorry for the problems.

Thanks Frank. I worked at a computer helpdesk several years ago...describing problems used to be an everyday thing....oh, the patience needed for that job!!!  Big Grin

I have exactly the same issue, and have had for a while now. Thought it was just me, so had to put up with it.

I also have the same thing with another forum I frequent, but that is based on the same software as FOG is, I think.

Edit: I'm running Windows XP with IE8.

A quick solution might be to download firefox and use that.  Firefox seems to run most things well.  It's free.

By the way, I consider it very big of me not to take a swipe at windows. Wink

Yep, could easily turn into an operating system war...or even an internet browser war...they can get pretty heated/passionate too.

My quick and easy solution for longer posts here on the FOG is Notepad. Throughout the years, Notepad has been the old reliable.

FireFox 3.0.14 and everything works fine.

To be honest, people are wiser to leave IE behind. It's just not as good as it should or could.

FireFox is much better.

I'm running the last stable version of Windows,  Windows 2000, and IE6. It works fine.

I have Firefox on another machine and it works fine. I have Safari on another machine and it works fine.

Moving from Internet Explorer is not an option here. IE is our corporate standard and I use my laptop for work and posting to the FOG.

It's interesting that the issue seems to be only with Internet Explorer users.

Ok, finally back home for the night and took a few minutes to find this documented.  Appears to be an issue specific to IE8.  I was able to replicate the issue on my notebook running XP Pro and IE8 (although I am a Firefox guy).  I applied some code to the forum which should correct the problem.  If some of you guys that were experiencing the issue could test and report if you are still having problems.  Otherwise I will consider it fixed.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Edit: I can also test on other computers here at home running Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit, XP Home and Windows 7 Home Edition if needed.  Any other operating systems may be a problem for me to test.

It seems to be fixed here as well..on WIndows XP IE7.

And to think, we all lived with this issue for so long because many of us individually thought it was our own issue, or that we couldn't do anything about it. But, when the issue was brought out in the open, it was discussed, analyzed by competent sources and successfully resolved  Wink.  How's that for a social commentary?

Thanks Shane.
