New here but think this should be renamed "Festool Tool Situations". Current title presents negative connotation. I never use the word "problem" with my customers, it's always "a situation looking for a solution" JMHO

Every time I use a tool it's in a "Situation". Doesn't mean there's a problem. So your proposal might lead to some confusion. What's wrong with the word "problem" anyway? Can't you handle a negative connotation? I like my Festools, doesn't mean I'm suddenly walking around with rose coloured glasses.

As I said, JMHO See 5b, just a different way. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/situationWhen dealing with customers, the more positive your description of an issue, the more comfortable they feel.

If you want to keep this forum unbiased, as unbiased as a Festool cheer leading forum could be anyway, the word problem better be used.
There have been many problems with many of their tools. So what, that's why I buy tools across different lines and find the best for me in each line. I do not buy Festool just because of the name. If I did and based it on the problems so many Festools have had I might never buy another Festool.
For me I judge tool by tool, not company by company. I have yet to find a company that makes every tool they make the best in their category.
So many have posted "they would never buy DeWalt" because of this one experience with them or "I would never buy another Milwaukee" because of their cordless drill battery problem, but I rarely if ever hear, "I will never buy another Festool because of the Kapex fiasco or the Carvex issues", etc, etc.
So use the word problem if the Festool has one and keep it honest. If we don't then when we praise a Festool really deserving why should anyone believe it.
Don't be in denial, some of the Festools leave a lot to be desired and need improvement, at least for me they do.

Since this was put in as a "suggestion" and seems to have gone in the wrong direction, (biased, denial, handling negative connotation, rose/green glasses). I hope the moderator would delete this.

Geez Steve. Why? You've been on here long enough to know with the vast personalities, experiences, expertise and places members are from, you're going to get a wide variety of feedback from postings. Doesn't seem like anything here has violated the rules or offended anyone. I do think that all blame should land on Dovetail's doorstep. How dare he post negative comments of his beloved Festool.

From the perspective of the Festool owner, it is a problem. While Festool does it's best to produce the world's best power tools, the reality is that there's no such thing as perfection. Sometimes there are "problems", which may be with the tool or may be with the technique. Regardless, we like to set ourselves apart as being a company that handles customer's problems quickly and efficiently.
I get what you're saying, Steve. Since taking ownership of the forum over a year and a half ago, our goal has been to let members have open discussions here and express their opinions even if they don't align with the opinions of Festool. I go out of my way to help customers get their issues resolved even late at night or on weekends. That type of customer service is one thing that really sets Festool apart from the competition.

Steve,
As a moderator, I appreciate your suggestion, but I can tell you that this forum and Festool wants to know about problems that their customers have with tools. Every tool that they sell here in the US has contact information right on the tool for that very reason.
Comments and potentially criticism is allowed here as well as long as it abides to the rules of the forum.
As a moderator I don't see a need to eliminate this thread based on the rules of the forum.
If I am missing something, please PM me by clicking on my name and send me a message.
Peter

The tools in my truck were talking the other day. The Dewalts, PC's, Boschs, Makitas were not happy. They also were in the minority. Their complaint: They felt unused and unappreciated since the Festools moved in. I guess the truth hurts.

What kind of uniforms do we have to wear? That was funny. I agree about problem. If something decides to act up or if something out of the ordinary happens, you dang right that is a problem. I will say that I do come here first if I am at home, otherwise, I use the phone number on the tool. David has gotten me out of a pinch on a couple occasions. The service department guys are great as well. I got 99 problems and a Festool (usually) ain't one.
