I really don't like them and really think they are worthless.
How am I supposed to know what you need to make to cover your nut.
How wealthy the clients are (see picky and discerning).
They really hold no water.

I don't see the harm even though I agree it can be hard to offer advice. Obviously these members are having trouble pricing their work and any feedback that can help them is good. We're all here to share knowledge, experience, advice and opinions. As long as it doesn't go against our forum guidelines, which I don't believe that it does, then it's fine. If you don't see the value, just don't participate.

Depending on crown type, furniture, tool set-up, size of room, how many inside & outside corners and client attitude, +/- $450 per room + materials; based on doing at least 2 rooms a day. Hope that helps better than the mamby-pamby other answers.

Maybe it would be more useful for the poster and readers like me if the post were worded: "I've been asked to install 450 lf of stain-grade crown molding and am having a difficult time estimating; I can estimate paint-grade so what other factors do I need to consider?" The discussion after that would be useful even though nobody will offer up a price. That said, though, even a ballpark range of prices based on the question "how much to install 450 lf of stain-grade crown molding" would still help someone not used to estimating that. If their (unposted) estimate was half your low range, it would be obvious they are not considering something. If their estimate was double your high, then something is amuck. I'm not a pro so discussions about how to price things intrigues me for when I get those "hey, can you build this for me?" questions. I've been getting that enough lately that I'm getting an LLC together and business cards printed. Somewhere, someone wants to spend money  |

From all the what would you charge threads its pretty obvious that people ARE asking what YOU would charge..........Not what you think they should charge.
