Since being involved in the role as Moderator, one of the things that has required the most attention has been reacting to the use of characters to type around the word filters.  For those who don't know what that means, it is the use of sh** to represent what someone might say in real life.  The software has been programmed - and can be edited - to filter for such usages and then substitute words or phrases.  Unfortunately some typings may get by.  This policy is in place to make the Forum non-offensive in regards to language usage to the majority of people.

As Moderators, at the present time we cannot edit posts, and our only remedy is to remove your posts which may include so much valuable other information.  Information that could be a benefit to our members and guests.  So, as a general rule, if you have to use asterisks (*), please find a substitute word.

Speaking for myself, I would love to never remove a post, so please remember the word filter rule.

Thank you for your assistance.

I can't type Matsush!ta the correct way or it gets edited on any forum.

So, as long as I can do that one, I am happy.

Filters are just the first line of defence in preventing bad language.

The second line of defence is the Moderators.

Which is why I have just deleted your "let's see if I can come up with some bad language they haven't thought of" post.

If you or anyone else wants to test the word filters, use the preview function to test it, and then scrap your message. Please do not post your attempts publicly.

There wasn't an expectation for you to test it.  And, my hope is that we have members who are courteous enough not to use bad language.

Darcy, you can type that word and it shouldn't be censored. Matsushita.  See...

I wish you hadn't posted that idea, now I'm trying to figure out how many words are in the filter (so far I'm only up to 5) Wink

This thread was not an invitation to test the forum's filtering capabilities! So that other members are not tempted to test out the filters, I have now locked this thread so that no more posts can be made.
