Festool Video Contest 2015 (US/Canada)
« on: February 03, 2015, 03:54 PM »
Well, it's that time of year again. Time for Festool Connect which means it's time to have our video contest! Yay!

We've seen hundreds of great videos made by you and your friends over the last few years. This year, we decided to open things up a little and offer a few new video types that are eligible for entry to make it more accessible to everyone. So, in addition to instructional/how-to and testimonial videos, we will also accept shop tours, project-based videos and videos showing organization with Festool in your shop or vehicle.

Great prizes again this year with the grand prize winner getting $1000 (USD) in Festool Bucks toward products of their choosing. Two random winners (so anyone who enters can win regardless of video editing skills) will also be chosen and will receive $750 USD in Festool Bucks. All of the top five finalists, as voted on by Festool employees, will win an 18-volt Cordless Drill. Plus, everyone who makes an eligible video will receive some swag.

Read more on our website or enter your video.

Here are the top give videos from 2014's contest. Good luck to all!

I just finished recording one have it spliced together and now just need to narrate it.  My skills are not great but it is fun and I think trying to explain something helps me think things through more completely.  It certainly won't be one of those high production value artistic videos but I think it is fairly useful.

Thanks to everyone who has submitted a video so far, and good luck!

Just a reminder that we're getting down to the last week and a little bit to enter.

Everyone gets some swag for entering.

Yes, one swag package per person.  [wink]

Additional videos raise your chances for winning the random prizes.

Unlike last year, entrants this year do not seem  to be posting their entries on the FOG. Was this not encouraged?

I feel that such posts last year encouraged others to enter, and certainly informed, entertained and enriched the FOG experience at that time.

(I know we will/may soon get a link to a compilation of all the entries.)

If you don't like Signatures, just go to Look and Layout and tick No Signatures.

Can I submit a video even if it is ineligible for the prizes? I could always do with another hat since my kids nicked my last one?!

I've noticed this as well. I think it could be because last year we had the FOG specific contest, where you had to provide a link in a specific thread. Many of these were then submitted to the main contest I'd bet.

Sorry, but only eligible entries will receive swag. And, I'm not sure if there will be hats included or not.

I believe last year we had a FOG contest at or around the same time period which had it's own set of prizes. That's why you were seeing more of them posted here. As usual, I will try to create a playlist with all of the eligible entries after Connect to share on our YouTube channel for everyone to see.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to put together a video for our contest. You've seen some of them posted here and gotten to enjoy them. We'll be posting the rest of them as a YouTube playlist next week so you can see all of the video submissions.

We currently have a team of Festool employees pouring over all of the entries and voting on each of them so we can narrow it down to our top 5 finalists. Those finalist videos will be shown next Thursday at Festool Connect where the attendees and viewers of the live video feed will have a chance to vote for the grand prize winner.

Again, thanks for the videos everyone.

Thanks for holding the contest.

Making videos can be kind of fun, but it's difficult to commit to putting a video together when there are so many other ways to use that time.  The awesome box of "swag" is a great source of motivation to set aside the time to make a video.  I've been checking festool.tv all day for this year's  playlist, I guess I'll have to wait a few more days.  It's fun to make a video, but it's fun to see the videos that come out of the woodwork that would never get made without the prizes at stake.  It's pretty positive all the way around.

Thanks so much to Festool USA for hosting the contest - so generous of you all to reward your fans as you do.

This forum has been such a great resource for learning and sharing over the past year, giving back to the group is something I think most of us want to do. The encouragement to document our projects and processes helps many of us find the motivation to add to collection of inspiring work.

Best of luck to everyone, some great work has already been posted, and I'm excited to see more.

And thanks to all the folks here on the forum for the feedback, advice and encouragement - its a great, albeit Festool obsessed [wink], community.

- Daniel

How does the video viewing/voting work for live streaming folks. The videos that have been posted so far have been very professional and creative, so I'm excited to see the ones that Festool picked as finalists.

Is there a specific time that they will be shown, or how exactly will this work. I don't want to miss them!

Kick back, relax, and grab some corn.

Thanks for posting, a little hectic for me at right now. The first five videos are our contest top 5 finalists. Congrats and thanks to all who participated and submitted a video.

Vote for the winner tomorrow from 8am-1pm during the live broadcast of Connect.

Looks like 173 entries if all of the videos are up. That had to make it very difficult to choose only five finalists?

While I'm disappointed that my video didn't make the cut, I'd like to congratulate the finalists who did. Here's wishing you guys luck in being chosen the new 'Festool Grand Video Pubah for 2015'!!!

Just over 180 entries. There were a few not in the playlist for various reasons like poor safety practices.

My little 2 cents......

Lance's video was awesome!  With the sweet Domino clock.     I really hope he wins a prize.

If he doesn't win a prize, then this contest must be rigged!       [eek]     [unsure]
