Halloweenex, as it would be called if it was a Festool holiday, is upon us and I thought this would be a fun thing to do. Just post a photo of your Festool themed pumpkin and automatically get your choice of a Festool t-shirt or hat. Festool employees will choose a grand prize winner from the entries who will receive a 48" Festool level. So, submit your best Fest-oo-lantern!

PS - Feel free to roll your eyes. It's just for fun people.

43130-0

Contest Rules

  • Post a photo of your own creation - a Festool themed carved pumpkin in this thread.
  • Send me a PM with the subject of Festool Pumpkin (or something similar) with your full name shipping address, phone number and whether you'd prefer a hat or shirt (with the shirt size).
  • You may submit multiple pumpkins which will increase your odds of winning the grand prize, but limit one hat or shirt per entrant.
  • Contest entries must be posted between Thursday, October 13th 2011 and Sunday, October 30th, 2011.
  • The contest is open to forum members from the United States or Canada who are at least 18 years of age, except where prohibited by law. Members from Quebec, Canada are not eligible to participate.
  • Festool employees, dealers and affiliates, and FOG moderators are not eligible to win (but may choose to participate).
  • Festool reserves the right to use the content from any entries in the SysNotes email newsletter or other marketing materials.

Prizes

  • Every entrant will receive their choice of a Festool t-shirt or hat.
  • One grand prize winner will be selected by Festool employees and will win a 48" Festool Stabila level, a $150 USD value.

Feel free to post any questions you might have.  Best of luck to everyone!

Here's a little inspiration from a friend's Facebook page: a sweet looking VW bus pumpkin.

Fabulous idea!  [thumbs up]

Of course those in other places who have the Carvex can't play.  I guess they would have had an advantage.  [ban]

Brice,

The rules specifically state that the pumpkin must be carved - so maybe you need to resubmit your creation per the guidelines?

I am using a jig saw, but if I get my cnc machine moved and rebuilt in time I will toss one on there. It would have to be a smaller pumpkin or I would have to rig up a pretty huge rotational 4th axis!
The one who says it can't be done should avoid interrupting the person doing it.

Here is my entry.  It's a T-Loc Systainer.  The text in the top-right corner says FESTOOL while the text in the top-left corner says T-Loc.      Like Jeff, I did get many puzzled looks but I think it's pretty awesome.

Started off with this:

then with light inside and in dark and close up the T-loc becomes more obvious:

so here is my entry a FOG pumpkin-tainer with T -loc

Halloweenex! - Review of the Ct. FeSTULA
« Reply #46 on: October 30, 2011, 11:41 PM »
I received a recent unsolicited package in the mail which normally sets off the warning bells. This one was a parcel all the way from somewhere in Europe. (It seems to have originated in Germany but made brief stops in several countries including Transylvania.) The package was well wrapped except for a few red splatters of paint. I opened it up and was amazed to find a new T-Loc systainer 3!

43595-0

My interest was piqued what could it be. There was a letter attached to the systainer... apparently I am now the proud owner of a Ct. Festula. Whoa! A new CT and direct from Europe! I had to open it right away. Let's check out what the inside of the systainer...

43597-1

Kind of scary. Not at all what I expected. First it was orange not a spot of Festool green anywhere. And for a CT extractor where does the hose go? I reread the documentation and the Ct. (not a full blown CT) relies on two "teeth" to extract what it needs. Here is a closeup of the teeth:

43599-2

Look to be about the same shade as Sipo wood if you ask me! I never could get the Count  Ct. Festula to work. Too bad. It promised to be really good at extraction. As it is, I am wondering if it is better suited to being a working light. When I shut the light off in my shop I couldn't help but notice the unnatural light it gave  [eek]

43601-3

Happy Halloweenex Everybody!

PS - For those who want to know, I think this item is NAINA and does not appear to be UL compliant.

Thanks to all of the following members for participating. I think I speak on behalf of my colleagues when I say it was fun seeing all of the entries. I could hear the chatter throughout the office of people discussing their favorites.

With all of the votes tallied, there was a clear winner: Noah Nordrum's TS Panther blade. Congratulations! You will receive the grand prize of a Festool 48" Level.

Congrats Noah. Yep you will love that level. Just make sure the little lights are turned off eac time as they do not go out by themselves. And 14 bucks to replace batteries. I know. 3 times now !!!!

But the lights are a real help

Congrats to the winner.  That was a really good one to beat.  I have to imagine there was a dillema deciding between the face image of the founder and the saw blade replicate.  Both spectacular pumpkins.

I used my Fein Multimaster to carve a somewhat simpleton pumpkin tonite.  Usually I just use a knife, but this pumpkin I had was really tough to slice thru.  I was also wondering though, has anyone ever used a RotoZip type tool to carve a pumpkin?  Or is that a splatering mess I should avoid?

I wanted to wait until the contest was over and the goblins were all gone since I couldn't win anyway. Here my video entry, "Centrotec Pumpkin":

It's still under development, Brice... It may never be AINA.

That video was made surreptitiously using my phone at an "invitation only" event held secretly in the Black Forest. The Hessens were everywhere on guard/in attack mode and the Swabians were in the trees...

I was disappointed not to have won the level, but this made it all better. My dad gave me a Disston level that had been my grandfather's. It's a 24 incher with a patent of 1912. Not quite Stabila accuracy, but pretty good for being almost 100 years old.

Very nice, Russell!  Keep that to continue passing it down.

Just a bit of info.  Patent dates are not dates of production.  Obviously the patent date was issued prior to the production of the item (due to the patent process).  You can usually get a general idea of its age from the patent date, though.

Yeah, the level probably wont get much use, but it will stay in the family. Thanks for the info on patents, I didn't think it could be that old.
