The Festool Owners Group has become a premier destination on the web for people who are seeking information about Festool products. Many of you have benefited by receiving answers to your questions about Festool products here on the forum and gone on to offer answers to other members' questions. For our next contest, you will have an opportunity to be rewarded for asking questions and providing answers. Not familiar with the Festool CXS Compact Cordless Drill? Check it out online at http://drills.festoolusa.com. Contest Rules- Post a question or reply with an answer to a question about a Festool power tool or accessory in the "Festool Tool & Accessories" or "Festool How To" sections of the forum to be entered into the contest.
- Questions and/or answers be your own original material.
- You may submit multiple questions and answers to increase your chances of winning.
- Existing questions are not eligible for this contest. In other words, you can't resubmit a question you've already asked in the past.
- Questions must be about a Festool product itself or an application using a Festool product.
- Each question must be made in a new thread and the title of the thread must end with a question mark (?)
- Question and answer posts must be substantive and meaningful to promote the sharing of knowledge on the forum.
- Contest entries must be posted between Monday, July 25th 2011 and Wednesday, August 31st, 2011.
- The contest is open to all members of the forum including those outside of the United States who are at least 18 years of age, except where prohibited by law. Participants must be from a country where Festool is sold to be eligible to win. Members from Quebec, Canada are not eligible to participate.
- Festool employees, dealers and affiliates, and FOG moderators are not eligible to win (but may choose to participate).
- Festool reserves the right to use the content from any entries in the SysNotes email newsletter or other marketing materials.
Prizes- Prize for asking a question: One randomly selected winner from all eligible question entries, a Festool CXS Compact Cordless Drill Set.
- Prize for answering a question: One randomly selected winner from all replies answering a question, a Festool CXS Compact Cordless Drill Set.
Winners will be randomly selected from the list of entries that adhere to the contest rules above and announced by Monday, September 5th, 2011. Feel free to post any questions you might have. Best of luck to everyone! Edit: To specify that the prize will be the CXS Set version.

How would we know if our answer or question has passed the above ? As it can be debatable if it is good question or answer no? Will you or other moderators let us know? I should of started a new thread for that question JMB

How would we know if our answer or question has passed the above ?
Just use good common sense. Don't ask a question that has an obvious answer, like "what's the depth of cut for the TS 55". It should be meaningful and in the end hopefully helpful to others. The purpose of that particular rule is to discourage useless questions. Moderators will not "approve", annotate or otherwise denote eligible posts. Just follow the spirit of the contest and you'll be fine. Shane

Think you meant to say winners. Yes, it will be the set. I will update the description of the contest to specify that.

Hmmm, this is getting Freudian ...... What does Freud have to do with this? It's about Festool. ----- That was a helpful response/answer to a question so it didn't require a new thread. Right?

my spelling is not the best, and my punctuation is worse.but I do try to make sure what I write is legible, even if the content is somewhat questionable. so can it be included in the competion rules that the questions have to have been spelt correctly.

JMB,
The answers also count for the contest, so no need to find questions just help someone.

I will be featuring the contest in our next email newsletter which I suspect will generate activity in the form of questions being asked. Veteran members should concentrate more on answering questions. New members will offer plenty of opportunities over the next 5+ weeks to answer their questions. Be patient. Answering a question, even in the form of a video, would count as an eligible entry.

Just a quick search shows there are about 78 questions that have been posted, so your odds are currently about 1 in 78. I have not checked these for eligibility based on the rules of the contest. Good luck to everyone. Thanks for the reminder, Peter.

I am curious, why does Canada get excluded from the contest. I understand Quebec. But why Canada since Festool is sold in Canada. Pete

Pete, I believe you may have misinterpreted the rules. It says that "Quebec, Canada" is excluded. Not Quebec and Canada. Canadian, with the exception of those in Quebec due to laws pertaining to contests and sweepstakes, are eligible to enter to win.

I've posted a couple of answers, but I don't have any questions I need answering. To me asking a question you already know the answer to, just to enter the contest, isn't really in the 'spirit' of the contest.

If you already know everything its hard to ask questions! JMB's iPad was acting up again. I think what he meant to say was: If you think that you already know everything then it is hard to figure out how to ask questions. . Or something like that. Peter
