You can also use a site called: www.tinypic.com Click the "BROWSE" button and select the image on your hard drive Click the "UPLOAD NOW" button (you will now go to a new page) Copy the line in "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" and paste this into you post. and that's it.

A third way is to upload pics to the FOG Gallery and then just reference them with the "IMG" button. See the tutorial for more details, but you can access the FOG Gallery by clicking the (you guessed it) "GALLERY" button on the toolbar above. It takes you here.To have your own gallery, just send an e-mail to Matthew requesting one. Here's mine: http://www.festoolownersgroup.com/CoppermineMain/thumbnails.php?album=5. Once uploaded you can easily include the pic in your posts over and over. For example, you've probably seen this one many times and didn't know that it's in the Gallery and not uploaded with each post: Regards, Dan.

Hi Matthew, you recently set up an album for me after I uploaded a few pics to the temporay album. I just now successfully uploaded a pic to nicao's new album as a test to help him figure out how to do it. In the process, I discovered that I can't upload to my own album because my album isn't in the list at the "choose album" stage.

Thanks Michael I thought I was nuts for a minute. I will upload a thing or two. Nickao

The one who says it can't be done should avoid interrupting the person doing it.

Michael, OK, I just fixed the permissions on your album so you can upload to it. Nickao's album is also fixed. Everything should work fine now. Matthew

Thanks Matthew. Nick, it seems between the time you tried to upload and I tried, Matthew had already "fixed the permissions on your album". By the way, I much prefer the regular upload link to the upload with java link, on Safari/Mac.

I did this, "A third way is to upload pics to the FOG Gallery and then just reference them with the "IMG" button.", and the result is a blue question mark where the picture should be. What's missing? I'm assuming the ""IMG" button" is the button with the framed picture. Does this "just reference them" mean something other than paste in the url of the picture you want to post?

Another attempt Trying the "URL address for an image" thing Via the Additional Options, Choose file button, which seems to upload it fresh from my computer as I post...

Michael, To reference your Gallery pic in a post: 1) Go to the gallery, open the image, then click on it until it displays at its largest size. 2) Right-click on the image to get the mini-menu, and select "Properties". 3) In FireFox2, you'll see the window "Element Properties" pop up. Place the cursor in the "Location" address. In IE7, you'll see the "Properties" window pop up. Place your cursor in the "Address:" address. 4) Press "<Ctrl> A" to select all of the address text. 5) Press "<Ctrl> C" to copy the address text. 6) Go to your FOG "Post reply" window and past the address in the window. It should look like this: http://www.festoolownersgroup.com/CoppermineMain/albums/userpics/VP_3_4_Front.jpg 7) Select all of the text and click the "Insert Image" button (third from left above the "Insert Inline Image..." dropdown). Your text will be surrounded by IMG tags: [img]http://www.festoolownersgroup.com/CoppermineMain/albums/userpics/VP_3_4_Front.jpg[/img] Finish your message and Post or Preview; your pic will show up like this: Regards, Dan. p.s. it takes WAY longer to describe than to do.

Not on my Mac, no right click etc. But the url for the picture is present farther down the page in the File Information box. Can't I simply select that URL, copy it, and past in the post after clicking the picture button? It seems like the logical thing to do but it hasn't worked yet.

On Mac you simply Control click on the large image and choose Copy Image Address from the short list of options that pops up. Back in your post you click on the picture button and then paste in the contents of the clipboard. If done right your picture will show up in the preview of the post.
