Several members have chosen to have a personal album created for their use in the forum's Image Gallery.  Aside from allowing members an easy way to peruse images, the Gallery allows members to easily insert their photos in their posts as inline images.  By using this method, there are no limitations as to the number of photos that can appear in a post.

This discussion explains how to add your Gallery photos to a post on the forum.  It assumes you already have an album, and that you already have photos in your album.

If you do not have an album in the gallery, click here.
If you have an album and need help getting photos into it, click here.

1. Go into the Gallery, and click on your album name to bring up the thumbnail page, then click on the photo you want to use.
3. Right click on the photo.
4. If you are running Firefox, select "Properties," then find the line called "location."  Select and copy that information.
If you are running Internet Explorer, select "Properties," then find the line called "address."  Select and copy that information.
If you are running Safari, select "Copy Image Address."
5. Go to your forum post and click the "Insert Image" button.
6. Paste the address you copied in step 4 into the "[i m g] [/i m g]" code that appears on the screen.

Repeat the above steps for each photo you wish to use from the Gallery.

Does the gallery method actually put the photos in the posts?  Or does it just link to them in the gallery?

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean.  If you follow the steps in the instructions, the actual photo appears in your posts.  I've used this method many times in the forum.

In the Tool Reviews board, I have two examples of how I used this feature:

I'm using Internet Explorer and, for me, it works just as you say it should.

Doh!!!

Sorry, it was me not reading the instructions properly - I was looking for an "address" option on the first right-click, rather than clicking on properties & then going to address!!! Hope that makes sense!

Anyway, my mistake.

Here's a little help inserting pictures into your posts from the FOG gallery using a PC, Windows XP with Internet Explorer web browser. The process in almost the same with other web browsers, Matthew explains the differences in the first post in this thread. I'll assume you've already uploaded you pictures to the FOG gallery, if you need help with that see this link. FOG gallery and attaching images.

The first step is to open the FOG gallery (there's a link to the gallery at the top of this page under the logo and between the "Members" and Logout" buttons). The gallery will open in a new window. Click on the album containing the picture(s) you want to insert in your post. Here is a picture of my gallery.

Click on the picture you want, this will bring up a smaller version of the picture called a thumbnail.

Clicking on the thumbnail will open a new window with the full size picture. Right click on the full size picture then the on "Properties."

Another window will open with the pictures properties, including its url address. Highlight the address and right click on it and copy the url address. You can now close this window by clicking "Cancel".

Now I can insert the picture in a post on the reply or start new thread page by clicking on the "Insert Image" button.

The image tags will show up in the text box.

Right click between the img] and [/img, paste the picture's url address.

It will look something like this.

The "Insert Image" will only add the picture to your post, not any other info from the image in the gallery like the description. You can copy and paste the description or add any other text, pictures you want.

You can check to see if you did everything correctly by hitting the preview post button before submitting your post.

Here's the end result.
