I know what you mean.  I've been working this afternoon in my garage and driveway building my kitchen cabinets.  My house face west so I get afternoon sun. IT IS HOT...   Eek!

*Tomorrow* is already here in Toronto, Canada. Currently, it's 100°F with the humidity factor making it feel like 120°F. Fortunately, my air conditioner is working fine and I have no need to go out anywhere today.

I may however, decide to torture some pizza delivery person by placing an order.  <G>

Over the weekend I thought I bought way more Gatorade than I would need for the week, I was wrong.  I don't know how you guys down south do this all summer long.

In this kind of heat, you should be refreshing with water. Gatorade for all its benefit when playing sports, has sugar and salt in it.

We don't- it's not like that all the time down here.  In fact, it's been hotter up there the past few weeks than it's been down here.  We also don't get the humidity as bad as places like NJ/NY get it- at least not here in Atlanta- and it gets dry and breezy most nights.   I'll take Atlanta summers over the NJ summers I grew up with any day.

Having had to endure several business trips to Atlanta in August, I think I'd rather be in Albuquerque or Santa Fe at the same temperature for the lack of humidity there.  Seems that when it gets that hot and humid, I have a difficult time holding onto the things I need to hold onto, and everything else sticks to me.

Agreed- I lived in Las Vegas for 5 years, and I'll take 115 and 0% humidity out there over what we get here any day.  But it's still not as bad here as what I grew up in.

Yuk! I saw  on the news that some portions of Iowa had 82+% dew points!! That is unreal, we had a few days with dew pts in the mid 70's. for me anything over 70 is enough!

Crazy thing is that New Mexico actually gets some humidity this time of year.  We start complaining when the humidity rises above 10 per cent.  This morning its 40 per cent.  Should come down to a reasonable level before the day gets too hot though...

Temp 99F
Humidity 50%
wind 4 mph
Dew point 77F
Heat index 114F

MacGyver and Goldie are sleeping on air conditioner vents I am sure.

Where I am in Louisville, KY - 74F.  Low humidity.  Bad Internet access.  Yes I am inside a hotel!

Meanwhile in Palm Springs, California right now it is 93F, heat index 89F, humidity 12%, dew point 34 F.

Be safe!

Neither do I.  It's brutal, all you can do is drink lots of fluids.  I work in a lot of new construction, so I have to rely on redneck air-conditioning.  Get to the jobsite early and open every window amd door in the house.

Stay hydrated.  I neglected to to do this a few months ago, and started to shiver in 90 degree weather.   Spoke woth my doctor and he told me to drink about 120 ounces of fluid within the next couple of hours...then I got a 103 fever.

Stay safe guys.

Ken,

The problem with a fan is that you spend more time moving the darn thing around than you do working.  Especially if you're bouncing from room to room installing cabs...

At the beginning of the week here in the Twin Cities, MN we had a DP (Dew Point) of 81 degrees heat index was 130.  I like heat and grew up in 90 degrees and 90% humidity....but dang it pushed me. On the 15th of the month (last Friday) we had 6.5" of rain coming down at 1.8" an hour. The lightning was frequent and close. I have been working with homeowners in my neighborhood to fix things.  One house had 1.5 tons of soil washed away.

When I got to their house... (I'm more into remodeling but)...they are good clients and needed help. The heat index was almost 130. I was able to extend their downspout drainage from the first backyard terrace over the second terrace to the third terrace and replace the soil. I like heat...but WOW even with water on site... it was tough.

I sent them my bill.... They doubled it with a tip...

The heat must have gone to their head.

Cheers,
Steve

I've been watching a couple different crews doing complete tear offs on roofs this week and I just am amazed at the bosses that will subject their employees to such brutal conditions. 100 plus and heat index 125 to 130  Working in the morning till 10 or 11 then coming back later in evening might make more sense, but all through the day just to get it done is just unbelievably stupid.  I surely hope that any of you festooler employers are smart enough to take care of your employees.
