I usually see lots of items on Ebay that are way over the list price.  I don't know what the explanation is for this.  I suppose it could be hoping to find buyers who don't know what the list prices is, or perhaps some sort of money laundering scheme.  No idea.

I have seen this on Amazon as well.

This has been mentioned here before on the forum, some people said the sellers did this when the item was (temporarily) out of stock. They just make the item ridiculously expensive so no one will bid on it, instead of deactivating the listing. Dunno why that matters, but apparently it is a thing.
