What should it be?

Normally when I post these types of things the cone of silence descends.

The thread rules are that posts can be serious or funny.  They can not be derogatory or sexually suggestive in any way.  Keep it clean.

Have fun!

Anyone?

The tools in my truck were talking the other day.  The Dewalts, PC's, Boschs, Makitas were not happy.  They also were in the minority.  Their complaint:  They felt unused and unappreciated since the Festools moved in.  I guess the truth hurts.

It doesn't matter to me because I certainly will not be watching this over-hyped event.   Tongue Out

How about Belt Sander races, of course with profession drivers on a closed course.

It should be a Festo ad, with the flying penguins as a proxy for the ball.  Have someone like Joe Montana throw the ball, and then switch to it flying around for the remainder of the game, while the players watch, agape.

A builder's race. Both are building houses, one with Festools, the other with various red, yellow and blue colored tools. The Festool guy builds a mansion in the time it takes the other guy to build a shack. As they both stand proudly in front of their houses, (the other guy is picking sawdust out of everywhere, the Festool guy is spotless) the other guy's porch collapses. All done in a very tongue-in-cheek style.

Hey that add would (almost) be worth watching part of the super bowl to see.   Wink

One more thing to add: In the final shot, the front yard of the "other" house should have tools scattered all over the place, while the Festool guy is standing next to a gleaming stack of T-Locs.

Just have a tagline like

Festool. When you want to leave your competition in the dust.

And some of that funky Euro-techno music.

My suggestion:

Opening scene – an aerial of a stadium track.  Zooms down to see Usain Bolt the sprinter coming onto the track and hearing the crowd cheering.   He starts down the track waving his Jamaican flag pumping up the crowd.

Cut to a scene of four or five scientists / engineers huddled together conferring. You quickly catch a glimpse of the letters FE on a white lab coat before it turns away.

Next scene:  Usain is just getting into the starting blocks.  He looks to his right (into the camera) and grins.  Cut to the engineers who have their eyebrows raised and a worried look on their faces.

Next scene:  You hear the electronic announcer say the word “set.”  Usain raises to the set position.  You hear the growl of a TS55.  Cut to the engineers who have dropped their clipboards onto the ground and have a shocked look on their faces but have stopwatches in their hands.

Next scene:  You hear the starter pistol.  You hear the click of a stopwatch.  You see Usain’s shoes leave the blocks.  The camera is focused on his shoes in motion and the pieces of the track coming up from his spikes.  His feet get blurred as they are moving so fast.

Next scene:  Usain is breaking the tape with arms raised.  He joyously dances around with his flag and the crowd goes wild.  Cut to a view down the track and the TS-55 is now crossing the finish line.  Cut to the engineers who have thrown their clipboards into the air and paper is flying and they are celebrating.

Cut back to Usain’s face that has a look of puzzlement on it.

Next scene:  Usain, the engineers, and the officials are huddled together.   Cut to a scene of a broom and a dust pan being placed in Usain’s hand.  You see his bare feet.  Cut to an engineer unplugging the power cord from the TS-55 and another unplugging the dust collector hose.  The engineers walk back towards the starting line coiling up the hose and the cord.  Usain starts using the broom.  The camera shifts to shoot down the track towards the starting line.  In Usain’s lane you see track debris and parts of his shoes.  Pan over to the TS-55’s lane and you see a saw kerf and the dust collector hose and power cord.

Next scene:  Usain is on the awards platform with a silver medal around his neck and his head bowed in defeat.  A broom and a dustpan are at his feet.  Cut to the center podium position and there is the TS-55 on a stack of systainers so that it can be as tall as Usain.  Around it is a green medal.  The Festool techno music starts playing as the national anthem.  Cut to the engineers who are crying.  They have handerchiefs in their hands with green stains.

Next scene:  The flag is raised and the wind extends it.  Close shot of the flag.  On it:  Festool.

At the bottom of the screen fades in:  Faster…Easier... Smarter.  The crowd goes wild.

OK, that's nearly perfect. Just make two changes:

1) Put 100 yards of festool track in the festool lane....

2) figure out how to put Miss Turkey in there (or Danica Patrick in a bikini)  Cool

Like, Danica Patrick?

Oops...

Tom

Seeing as it is a race, we will need another driver, how about Katherine Legge;

A "super bowl" eh? - that's foot ball or baseball or something isn't it?

Is that what the woodworking types go to in the US?

My thinking, something with a bit of technical precision ... motor racing? ... would be good.

For business reasons I've spent a lot of time looking it brand awareness and brand association recently.

How about something like a cat burglar sneaking through a house, walking by tables and cabinets covered in money, jewels, etc ... breaking into a safe ... as the door opens we see a CT36 and a TS55. Tag line ... something like "you won't understand the value until you try Festool".

Follow on scene 10~15 minutes later ... cat burglar in custody of police, being escorted away ... off to the side one policeman saying to another "when will these guys learn, Festool offers a 30 day trial".

Danica and Katherine would be a good race. Actually Danica is a neighbor down the hill a bit. She is a vineyard owner.

Peter's and EWTHeckman have great ideas.

I think a video showing someone building the goal posts out of wood with festools would be cool.

Thanks. Maybe we can get Peter / Shane to get some t-shirts going with that line?  Poke

I think an ad should have Joe Montana thread a tire with a ball at 50 yards. Then have him say he learned how to do it by seeing how a Domino worked.

Oh perhaps you could have a guy that looks like Mike Holmes tip toe out of bed in the middle of the night in his coveralls, walks past all his "other tools" into a separate room where he starts using the entire Festool system. Camera zooms in on his face as hes using the TS55 with a big smile on his face. Then have the slogan comes up, "Festool, it's like cheating" German techno music starts playing....then put up faster smarter better, ending with the Festool logo and fade out.

Here is a video from Rockler.  They call it their "Big Weekend" video.  I like it.  A little too short, but at about 100k per second for a Superbowl ad, 114 seconds must suffice.

I'd run it in the second half, and use a TS-55, a Kapex, and sander to cut up and sand away a Madonna video.

Dustless, of course.
