Well It will be soon time for me to go back across the pond and return to the USA. Got my shop and house hold good picked up by the shipping company, One of my 2 cars on a boat heading for LA, soon moving out of this rental and into Temp housing for about 10 days and home. I havnt been home to the states in almost 4 years. Come Sept 2 Ill be retired after 42 years with the DoD. From 2008 -June when I return home, Ive only been in the USA about 3 years and not inna row, So About time right:>D

Im about 3 weeks out. I So thought Id like to thank the guys I met here in the UK for their great hospitality and their help over the last (close to) 4 years.
The ones that come to mind are Garry Martin, Ian the Woodworking Wizard, Paul (Green Fever), The double P Peter Parfitt , Phil and festool for bringing out all those great tools and bling out in support of my BBQs. ( Im sure Im forgetting a few more people for give me).

You guys have been more then helpful to me, thanks for everything. If yas ever make it to Sunny SoCal not to be confused with NoCal , (inside joke for us Californians) ,

Please let me know,  Mrs Jobsworth (soon to be back to Mrs Sancho) will have her grill going and some great Mexican food waiting on ya.

While Im at it,
Id like to give a shout out to the Girls at Festool service who as I tell them over the phone are my future ex wives , thanks for all your help and paience with me  even when I called ya for help ordering parts you know I want the thing that hooks onto that thingy on the 1010,  even the one time I had my ROTEX in for service, you ladies were great,

Shout out to Warrens Festool gangsta crew at Toolfest the lady that answers the phone was great to work with, she was especially helpful patient chasing down all the little bits and especially with the times I told them I want the thingy that....

All the folks who came to my BBQs and brought their favorite things to show off to us give us ideas and of course cost me money buying them after I see them (Gerry Martin is the worst when it comes to getting into my pocket buying some of things he brought)

I learned quite a bit while I was here to. So Im heading home with a good line up of NAINA tools and accessories Plus some new useful knowledge on tools , finishes and techniques, are just some of  things I learned while I have been here.

So to all the folks here, thanks for everything.

See on the other side of the pond....

Jobby, soon to be sancho again  and eating Chicago Dawgs, Chili Dawgs, in and out burgers, Sunday Brunches at my favourite Mexican resturaunt sitting on the patio in the sun drinking strawberry Margaritas hehehehehe Oh and mylemon tree, I miss the heck out of my lemon tree  [tongue]

Hi Ron

You are a great guy and I will never forget the first time we met (with Paul) that huge hot dog that you managed to tuck away less the mustard that created an impressionist masterpiece on your T shirt.

Have a safe journey home, take care and remember me and Mrs P to the soon to be Mrs Sancho.

Shocking assassination of my good character there Ron; especially getting all the blame for you spending money...  [wink]

You've been a great character, and I couldn't be happier to be able to now call you a friend. Keep in touch and a safe journey to you, your family, and your belongings!

Don't forget to hand over the UK BBQ flame to a deserving successor...  [crying]

Hi Ron,

Thanks for putting on a great BBQ last year, well worth the big round trip. Never know I might pop out to the States again so I will look you up if I'm in your neck of the woods.

By the way I managed to try a five guys burger last week. Still think I need a real US burger.

Safe journey back home mate.

Ron, Have a safe trip home. It is always grat o be home no mater how much the good ties while you were away.

About you mention of "Sunny" California, way back in the days before I was even 38, i had a good friend, and fellow farmer, who had been stationed in Sunny California for a short time during his hitch in the army (he was a WWI vet).  He said he had heard it "never rains in California".  While he was there, he discovered "...they had unusual weather nearly every day."

The only time I was ever in Southern California, I was looking up a friend stationed close to San Diego (Vienam period).  I was early, so i wanderd around in the hills and ran into a couple of guys who were hunting for rattle snakes.  I went along with them for about an hour or so, but found no snakes.  I did know about snakes as I had a best buddy while in HS who hunted rattlers and copperheads in the area where the two of us spent many weekends camping, hunting and fishing.

A little further upstate California, (same trip mentioned above) I ran into a prospector up around Stanislaus (Above the Merced River area) who was retired building contractor and took up prospectin' for gold.  He was a swimmer and went out to mid steam with snorkel.  I wasn't much interested in that as I was not much of a swimmer.  We did go around to some of the houses he had built. Those hills were almost vertical.

Just ramblin'.  Off topic as per usual.   Anyhow, Wecome back.  I'll wave to you as you fly overhead.  If you look down, I'll be riding a big orange Z-mower.  Wave back.

Let ya all know, we mad it home yesterday, after a 11 hr flight, and a 2.5 hr taxi ride to the hotel ( staying in one for a week until I get my house sorted)

I'm home. Feels great, though I would of liked to stay in the UK longer, I'm home and happy.

It felt like I never left that Europe was a dream. Even the LA rush hour traffic seemed normal, but then the M25 kept me tuned up for the LA traffic.

So what's next for ol Jobby?
Well going to work a couple of months mainly just getting things squared away, house hold furniture being delivered the cars being delivered finishing up all the paperwork, etc then I'm retiring in first old Sept and then on to the next phase of my life.

What will I do? I dunno I always say God loves drunks and fools and I'm both, so something is going to come up I'm sure.
