Carpenter Joiner Two sugars in my Tea

« on: May 13, 2012, 12:33 PM »

Spent yesterday in the workshop having a really good sort out of things I should have got rid of a long time ago ( It was either that or being dragged around the shops with the Wife!)
and in the bottom of a drawer I came across a pack of old ELU  router cutters which have never been used. Thinking back it must be at least 26 years ago when we bought them!

They are that old that they don't even have the ball bearing guides at the bottom of them!

So I was thinking,  has anyone else come across a long lost purchase and re descovered it recently?
I have to say i can't bring myself to use them, maybe I'll just hang them up in the office as a reminder of the good old days?

Mat.

at first I was shocked, then I remembered that 19 years ago, incra fence was only a $50 plastic jiggy thing, right?

Just today I found (sitting in plain sight on a hanging shelf) a 6"  three sided hook rule from Bridge City Toolworks. I have no recollection of buying it....

Nope - full metal high accuracy job - I recall it costing over $800+ in Oz back then.

I'd got hold of the first of the Triton router tables prior and it was rubbish ... Hence I went shopping to make something better ... moments later the first little monster popped out and life got too complicated for many, many years.

(I'll takes some pics when I can - for historical purposes)

I also found a box of two dozen half inch carbitool router bits I'd given to my dad about ten years ago while my sister and I were sorting out his home - completely unused. Some truly awesome profiles.
