I am possibly visiting the States for my first time at Christmas we are going to Disney and most probably staying in one of the resort hotels in Orlando. I might do a bit of tool shopping while im there so has anyone got any good advice , good tool shops etc also as we are arranging the trip now anyone got any tips on what to see where to eat and all that cheers.

It might not happen but you never know if I get a spare minute and and Im bored with all the roller coasters |

Can't provide advice with tool stores in Orlando. As far as meals, while at Disney, you'll want to eat your meals at Disney, they have a lot of good restaurants with plenty to choose from. You don't want to spend time coming and going from their properties just to eat. Some dinners require reservations, you'll want to book well in advance. Epcot has the most variety for dining. There are also breakfasts where some of their cartoon characters come to, these also require reservations and have limited availability. If you have young kids they'll really like the breakfast with characters. Disney is a lot of fun, exhausting, but in a good way.

+5,000! on the Epcot suggestion; we went there when it was first opened with I believe 8 pavilions and the food was fantastic at all of them. Now, I'm hungry...

I took my two daughters to Florida in 2003 and did the Disney & Universal stuff but if you want to do something different we went to Cocoa Beach and they had an hour surfing lesson from a guy called James McLaren which they still talk about.
Another good trip was an airboat ride on the swamp with a guy called Bruce Castle who is an alligator hunter and takes only 3 people on his airboat rather than the organised trips which have upto 20 on their airboats.
I still have these guys email/web details if you want them let me know.
Its a great holiday and you will wish you could be there twice as long.

The tools in my truck were talking the other day. The Dewalts, PC's, Boschs, Makitas were not happy. They also were in the minority. Their complaint: They felt unused and unappreciated since the Festools moved in. I guess the truth hurts.

Another thing to keep in mind, if you're also doing the Disney cruise, do that after you spend time at their parks, it's nice to relax after being on the go all day long.

Cheers guys Im getting more excited all the time. Its my 40th birthday in November so we thought we would take the kids to Disney etc in December, our friends have already booked that gave us the idea. My boys will be 6 and 10 when we go. All the advice sounds good so far some people are telling me to get a villa and drive in but my wife says it will be better staying on the resort where we will meet more people.
Feel free to give any advice on my trip and I dont think Im that bothered about tool shopping more excited about Disney and Universal.

It's much better to stay on the Disney property, they have all levels of cost available. They have a great public transportation system. Plus you get into the parks an hour earlier than the public if you stay in one of their hotels. |
